Update: Booner & I have learned, in ONE week none the less, to ring the bell to go outside!!! He is soooo smart.
Arrival Story:
My 12 yr old dog Candy Marie has been needing a buddy for years, but my hubby was strictly against having another dog. I had been scouring the petfinder website for several months when I came across Booner. Since my hubby had pointers growing up, when I told him I had found a pointer mix he said " Let's see if he's still available" and that was it. Three days later we went to pick him up. After 12 yrs, I finally had my 2nd puppy!! I cried , no kidding. He got his name because, my hubby is a big whitetail deer hunter and Boone & Crockett is the largest category of antlered deer, so if you were in the woods & saw a big buck you saw a Booner. The plan is when Candy leaves this world:( I hope to get another pup and that dog's name will be Crockett. Then we'll have Boone and Crockett.
Bio:
Booner's mom is an artist who does wonderfully detailed pencil sketches. Her speciality is pet portraits & dogs are her very favorite subject. Hi all! I'm Booner. Strange name I know but neither me nor mom got choose the name. The condition of getting me was that "the man of the house" got to name me. Anyway, I see there's a contest going on fer all the pups out there who have been adopted. What a co-weenkie-dink. I was adopted. Actually it'll be exactly a year ago May 1st. Here's a little insight to my life before I was adopted into my ferever home: I was born with some brothers & sisters into a home that didn't want me, (Imagine that!) so I made my way to a new home and it wasn't too long before, they didn't want me either! Fortunately a kindly ol' lady took me in, but she couldn't keep me. She already had a house full of fur-babies and was " poor as a church mouse ". (Are we seeing a pattern here?) Well, next thing I know, this real nice lady came & got me. She took me to her place that had all kinds of pups that were looking fer a permanent home just like me. She took some photos of me and posted me on something called Petfinder. In the mean time she worked with me and got me some manners and more or less house broke. The kicker of it all is, at this point, I'm JUST 4 months old. Little did I know that my young life was about to start getting better & better.
One bright sunny day I was piled into the van and we drove fer a long time. When we finally stopped and I got to get out & stretch my legs and sniff. I could see someone coming. It was a guy and a lady and the lady had tears in her eyes. She was very nice and petted and gave me some loves. She scooped me up and I subsequently, went home with her. THIS was my new Mommy. She took me home to meet my new sissy and see my new house. I was so excited! Me and my new family bonded very quickly. I've heard mom say "she's so blessed to have me in her life" and I feel exactly the same way. I am so good! I NEVER leave the yard, sis Candy has to be watched or chained up, I don't chew, I was a "dream" to house brake, (whatever that means) I love everybody, people and pups alike. She has said " I don't know why anyone would ever have wanted to get rid of me BUT she's so glad they did. " Cuz now I hers!
And that's my story. I know my momma loves me and will forever. Adopt! You'll be paid back 10 fold in all the unconditional love a pup can give!
