Arrival Story:
I have been looking for another cattledog-puppy ever since we lost Bootscooter. This sweet guy got my attention when I visited a city-shelter in my search. I couldn't get him out of my mind, and I had to go back and save him the day before he was scheduled to be euthanized. His personality is what got me first but once he came home with me I realized how PRETTY he is. The shelter listed him as "shepherd-mix" --maaaaybe a little -shepherd mixed in with Pit Bull= such a sweetie-pie!

Bio:
The director of the shelter said that he had been surrendered by his owner. [ughhhh!] He loves to play with other dogs--he tries to play with my heeler, but she's too busy trying to tell him that She's the boss. He just takes her attitude in stride and never shows his teeth back when she does. He needs a home home capable of handling a BIG BABY.

Was I ready?

Such an emotional day for me, I am worn-out! My Rescue group had an adoption event at Petsmart today and there were several people interested in Sunny. But 1 guy couldn't leave without him. and I started crying as soon as I realized the guy was serious.
I could tell that this was a "good" guy for Sunny just by the way he interacted with Sunny, but I checked his application over REAL-GOOD--(it had to be spotless in terms of what I believe to indicate responsible and loving ownership--because Sunny had become just TOO SPECIAL!)

I am new with this rescue-foster stuff, so I relied on the experience of the others. EVERY "regular" of the group was telling me, that "this is an extremely GOOD owner"

by the time the adoption was officially completed, I was a mess. Tears everywhere, couldn't stop.

I wanted to explain to Sunny-- why he wasn't going home with me like usual and I SO wanted him to understand that I was NOT giving him up-or abandoning him... AND that he was going to be SOOOO HAPPY.

He will just have to find out... and he will.

I am a black-sheep of the Pit Bull family--I'm a lover -NOT- a fighter

This is my 3rd day with Frankie and I am so relieved to get to report Frankie's A+++ on a Pop-test that came at the park today. We were walking by a family with a smaller-than-Frankie Pit Bull (about 40 lbs) tied to a tree with about a 5ft lead. I was keeping Meeka and Frankie a safe distance from any possible problem. The couple stopped me and asked me about Frankie-- if he was friendly. I said Oh, yes VERY! a bIG bABY. They said that their Pit was 14 weeks old and also very friendly and that it was OK to come over. Frankie was interested--like he is in any & every dog; but as soon as he got close enough to almost meet--That Pit went BALLISTIC -- totally AGGRESSIVE -and lunged like he wanted to attack and kill Frankie. That dog (they called, "Demon") -by himself sounded like a dog-fight--a sound I've never heard before. I jerked Frankie back (who had only responded with his typical attempt to PLAY) He acted like he thought it was a game and was still trying to move forward with his little play-jumps. He never growled, showed his teeth or responded at all like he had been threatened. (Meeka, on the other hand did try to answer back but I held her back-tightly). The owners were embarrassed and said that Demon lives with other Pit Bulls and had NEVER done that. The man tried to take Frankie over to his younger and smaller dog--believing I would see that his dog was not "an attacker". Demon, however never changed his attitude-- of wanting to FIGHT. But thankfully, Frankie never stopped trying to PLAY... GOOD BOY, FRANKIE!
