Eight months is not a long time. Just since I've been at Rainbow Bridge, these Dogsters & Catsters have also become ANGELS (the few we know) ... and most of them are long-time members of the Dogster/Catster community. Please go visit their profiles:
~~ Lucky Lucy ~~~~~ WINston XXLP
Bernadette ~~~~~ Rusty
~~~~~ Spunky ~~~~~ Cheyenne
Socks ~~~~~ Pepe ~
Each one very loved. And each forever missed by their families ...
Ah! The sun is shining ... there's plenty of water and food ... I can snooze or play to my heart's content. And there's no pain or sickness!
But ya' know what?
I am very sad ... because there are lots of pals here ... who also wait for their special human friends.
SAM, Ms.Bacall, & I asked our typist to remember pals who have come to The Bridge while we have been Dogster members ...
we begin our list with these angels {2007}:
Ramona
PhoebeDumas
Yoda
Cicso Kid
Sadie
Sharna
Roxy
Bear and Bambi, Lickity, and Daisy
Angel
Casey
... to be continued ... xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo
It was 11 years ago today that I was adopted by my furever-family.
I was one of the lucky few, I got rescued and adopted ... and had a great life with my furever family. ... well, now I wait at Rainbow Bridge for them.
Guess what?! My new pals at Rainbow Bridge Angel Babies had a celebration for me today -- with chocolate cake!! And my family is trying to scan some pre-digital pictures so I can have "new" stuff on my profile. Yippee!!
~~Bogart's family here~~~
Did yall know, it's been 66 years since Humphrey Bogart said "Here's looking at you, kid" to Ingrid Bergman in "Casablanca." And of course, we named our bulldog Bogart because we like Bogie movies ...
Our Bogart went with the Angels this afternoon, July 31, 2008 ... "Here's looking at you, kid"
... you are released from your pain ....
There are words the veterinarian said: lymphoma destroying Bogart's intestines ... and pancreatic lesions (? cancer) that's very painful ...
it's too quiet at home tonight ... and puppy Rick is looking for you ...
I've gone to the veterinarian several times since the first of June because of diarrhea- YUCK! I got Metronidazole and I started eating homemade chicken & rice ... but I wasn't doing right ... so they did bloodwork, more fecal tests, tried a different antibiotic and an antiparasitic ...
By this time, I was very grouchy, feeling bad, and ready to bite anyone who got close ! So when the vet said my blood panel showed "only minor elevations that we are going to find on a 12-yr old bulldog but nothing specific to account for the diarrhea" ... Well! My person thought, why don't we let Bogart spray poop across YOUR backyard ! and THEN you tell me "it's normal'!!!
O yeah, we also added this powder stuff on my food to "rebalance my normal intestinal buggies" ... but things still aint right. The veterinarian discussed some "inflammatory bowel" thing and started me on Prednisone, an anti-inflammation drug ... I sure do not like anyone messing with my routine! 'cause I got cognitive dysfunction issues, too! ... Now I'm supposed to eat only chicken & rice. No peanut butter, no kibble, no ice cream! Help!!!!!
I luv sunshine! I'm lucky to be in Texas where most days are sunny (or will be, if you just wait a minute!). There's nothing better than a snooze in a warm, sunny spot!
This here's the paradox: Bulldogs will quickly die from exposure to temperatures of about 80 degrees or over. I wanna snooze in the sun ALL DAY but the family only lets me stay outside five minutes! They say I don't have the sense to know when to come back inside on my own ... HUH??!
Because we're smush-faced, Bulldogs' breathing system is shorter. Remember, dogs don't sweat; the only way we can reduce body heat is by panting. And with my short airway, it's just not possible to cool all that hot air I'm breathing.
Sometimes the indoor temperature feels cool enough to my family -- but if they see me panting ... time to crank the air conditioner to super-chill. And over the last few year as I've gotten older, I can start panting while at rest (hey, it's hard work to hold down the floor!)
... Mercy! It's a long time 'til December when the weather cools off ... The family wishes somepup could send snow to Texas... But I hate cold, and I don't do wet ...
Well, I don't know how to count years!
In August, 1997, when my family adopted me from the bulldog rescue group, their veterinarian said I was about 2 years old. That means, I am now really old for a bulldog.
... My primary picture, a classic bulldog pose, was taken in 2003. It's time for an update, right? They tell me it's always difficult to get pictures of me (I'll be cute but as soon as they have the camera, I have to move up close which ruins the pose.) Well, you can see from my new primary picture, I am thinkin' about being an old dog ... .
I am thankful for each day (except, why do I have to share my life with that pup Rick?!).
I got tagged by my pal Jewels. She's a sweetie & new to dogster!
I'm supposed to list my 5 Valentine's Day wishes and then tag 5 other pups to do the same {requests via p-mail, rosette, or PPR}!
So here are my wishes~
#1 Will the pup Rick please grow up NOW and quit chewing on my ears?!
#2 I wish my eyesight was better so I could SEE my food
(& not have to sniff around for it when kibble goes flyin' ... hey, us bulldogs are messy eaters!).
#3 No more itchy-scratchy skin!
#4 I do not want my nose fold or ears to get any more infections EVER period.
#5 I wish that I could lick my feet all the time
(? what, mom, you don't believe that my feet taste as good as ice cream-BOL ?!).
O.K., we're tagging these pups~
Buddy Lee #209552, Bailey #341177, Dozer #462304, Gunner #581486, Itsy 'Bout Time #601995. Thanks for playing!
That new Rick is driving me crazy! I am an old dog ~ I eat, I go out for business, I come back in. I scrunch up my bed & sleep in a sunny spot. And Rick wants to play!?! . . . I do not play.
So WHY did the pawrents bring in the new dog? How could they forget: I AM the CENTER of the universe!
