Riff, Reagan and I grieve with our human family as our beautiful 18 year old boy took his own life Monday, March 17, 2008.
I expect we won't be around much for a while.
We wish all our friends safety and health until we return.
Rudy Mack, Riff, Reagan and all the Spruill family.

I responded to a great group thread asking about where group members got their start in life. this was my response so I thought I'd post it here too.

Wow, Mom & I were really enjoyed reading a thread asking about everyone's parent's names and where they came from. These personal stories have made us laugh and cry. Sometimes when we read someone’s story, we go to their doggie page to read more about them. This has all been very interesting.
My story is pretty boring next to so many others but I’m happy I’ve always had a good life. My mom believes that to get any pet you have to be committed to providing a forever home. Her previous dog was with her from six weeks old until she had to go to sleep to cross the Rainbow Bridge at the age of 17. She was a very pretty dog, very lady-like and somewhat prissy. Her mom was a beagle and her dad was whatever came by that night… ;-) She was a twin so her and her brother were named Riff and Raff. When Mom got a divorce Raff went with that man so I’ve never heard much about him. (She was Riff) While Riff had the body of a beagle, she had long pretty white hair with a couple of caramel colored spots. Mom said that everyone who ever met Riff offered to buy her. She musta been a pretty good dog. When Riff passed on, Mom cried and missed her for a couple of years before she felt like she could get another dog. Then she spent a year researching breeds and decided a miniature schnauzer would be perfect. Then she spent another six months interviewing breeders she found on the AKC website.
Mom thought she wanted a white, female dog since that was what she was used to. Once she decided on a breeder (I call her Grandma Kelly), she visited with the breeder and decided that temperament was more important than sex or color. She let the breeder help choose the puppy that she thought was best suited to my Mom and our family. At that time my mom was a biker lady. She traveled the United States by herself on her Harley and wanted a dog friend to take with her.
Grandma Kelly was right when she chose me for Mom, we hit it off real well. I am a salt & pepper.
Mom was training me to ride with her but when riding season got here (March 2006) Mom got Bacterial Meningitis and almost died. She is good now but can’t drive or ride her bike so we stay home all the time. I’m a good pal for Mom. :-)
Grandma Kelly says she knows I would have been a champion but she is very happy that I got the family I did. My doggie mom was G. I. Jane, and my doggie daddy was D’Artaganan Naylor. Mom says that on my pedigree if you go back 30 dogs, more than 20 are champions. Then past those 30, nearly all are champions. When my Mom took me to the vet for the first time, the vet asked why my Mom bought a show dog for a pet. Mom said she wanted to know that the dog was healthy, especially for her first schnauzer. Mom says she always had mutts and that a pedigree is not what’s important, but it’s nice when a dog comes from a good breeder that cares about breeding for temperament and health.
Mom looks at rescue sites all the time and feels it’s important to help find homes for dogs that haven’t had the posh life I’ve had. I am sssssssooooooo happy that so many of you were rescued. You have very good parents to love you so much.
On a funny note, my human daddy used to think all animals should live outside and never be on the furniture. I think he didn’t like that Riff did shed a lot of long white hair and he always wears black. :-( Now daddy loves me so much he even puts me in bed with them and I get to sleep in the big Mommy/Daddy bed. He asked Mom if they should get another dog!! Mom’s never had more than one dog but she researched again and tomorrow (Friday, 6-29) they are driving from Dallas to San Antonio to pick up my new little brother, Reagan. Daddy says now we’ll both sleep on the big bed. Mom asked “Who is this man and what happen to my husband?” she was laughing when she said it. I think he loves me a lot!!

Today my mom talked to that phone thing and I heard her talking about something called Reagan. Then when she got done, she asked me to come sit in my chair at her desk. (I have my own chair so I can sit at the computer with her and check up on her.)
Mom showed me some pictures of a little white thing and said that's my new brother!! She says we will drive a long ways and pick him up at the end of this month. She says he's too little to come now.
I do like when she invites other schnauzers to come play at my house. I'm real good and share my yard, house, toys, water bowl and even my food. I'm not worried, Mom gives me plenty of everything. Maybe having a plymate everyday won't be so bad. In fact, I think it'll be fun!!
So look at the picture to the right of the little white puppy. He's my brudder!!
