Leave a bone for Hunter (In memory 1998-2009)

Nicknames:
Goofus, the hoooonter man

Quick Bio:
-purebred

Likes:
Food, food and more food but ESPECIALLY watermelon, he eats anything

Pet-Peeves:
dogs that interupt his naptime, bothersome cats, chipmunks walking the fence

Favorite Toy:
Stuffed penguin, chewies, any stuffed squeeky toy that another dog has

Favorite Food:
watermelon and fresh bread......sometimes a whole loaf of it!! Sucking the remnants out of the yogurt container.

Favorite Walk:
Wherever Dad is going, likes to ride with Dad also, likes to go bird hunting though when he tuckers out he heads back to lay in the truck....not much stamina

Best Tricks:
opening doors, even when they are locked. He is the Houdini of dogs

Arrival Story:
He was about 1 year when we saw an ad for him and his brother...they were locked up in an apartment for 12 hours a day. It was sad...his brother got a new home first and my husband took one look at Hunter and said you are coming home with me. He really is a happy dog now, as there are birds to watch, cats to worry about and all these great brothers and sisters to play with. Life is good.

Bio:
Since being locked in an apartment all day he had alot of time to think things through. He can open just about any door or cupboard and seems to relish the task of figuring out situations and getting what he wants.....he absolutely cannot be left in a room with food as he will inhale whatever it is.....NO! is not in his vocabulary. He has mellowed out somewhat in his old age.....still likes to go outside and run but also likes good long naps in the sun for hours on end. Oct. 26th 2009....Had to have Hunter put to sleep. His kidneys shut down on him and we couldn't put him through any more suffering. He had been winding down for a few months....did alot of sleeping and seemed to have lost his sparkle. We will miss him and the other dogs will miss him alot as he was their leader....love you Hunter.....

Well, originally, being the bird dog that I am, I spent my days constantly looking for birds, barking a warning when there were doves in our trees and generally trying to keep this place bird free. So now we have this pesky barn cat that has moved in and makes my life hell. She taunts me all the time, sauntering along the fence (did she just stick her tongue out at me!?!?!?) and rolling around in the grass just out of my reach. I don't care about the damn birds anymore....I just want that darn cat. Hey, wasn't there a movie named that? Well, anyway, she is a pain the the a$# and to get back at her I sneak into the garage and eat some of her cat food.....she doesn't care but it makes me feel better!! And, to make matters worse, she is catching more than her share of doves and that really makes me mad!!
