Likes: Pig ears, fetch, and long backpacking trips... But car rides are my absolute favorite! I'm happy when Mom gets out my seatbelt... I just can't contain myself and bounce in circles I'm so excited!
Pet-Peeves: Cats that don't know their place...
Favorite Toy: The rope chain that I got from Fidget for Christmas. I also like a good canvas frisbee...
Favorite Food: Vanilla Chunky Cow Cheeks... Anything chewy...
Favorite Walk: Sanford's Veteran's Memorial Park - the walking trails. Or, the trails at Deerfield Park in Isabella County. Anywhere I can use my backpack is great!
Best Tricks: Mom n I are working on some things... I'm learning to wave Hello! and Goodbye! with my paw, ... I give high fives, too. I do all kinda of contortions in the air to snag a frisbee.
Arrival Story: I barely remember because I was so little, but this funny girl came and played with me one day. She says I was only 10 weeks old, and I lived in a shelter in Arenac County. She saw me on the internet in an ad that said I urgently needed a home. So, she came and got me. No more poopy crate for me! She had lost her good, old doggie friend of fifteen years that spring to cancer, so I had to give her lots of kisses.
Bio: I'm going to be a Dog Scout! I'm learning things to be more helpful - like water retrieving, hiking and backpacking, geocaching and good manners. Maybe this year I'll get to go to Dog Scout Camp.

YAY!!! We went to Bay City to take the CGC (we almost opted out due to bad roads...) and I passed the test! The tester guy said I was a very friendly dog, and I wagged my stub tail like a maniac the whole time!!! Mom said she was very proud of my stay... And I got to be the "friendly dog & strange approaching" a few times. Anyway, I passed and now I get to go to work with Mom... I'll get to wear my CGC patch on my bandana and everything! :)
just like arnold swartzeneger said... it's not a tumor! the vet called mom today and told her that there's no need to worry about me. the lab reported that the bump the vet took off wasn't cancer, it was a fatty growth and nothing to worry about. she was so happy - she gave me hugs and we danced around in the living room, celebrating. even though it was cold out (about 10 degrees), we played frisbee in the snow to celebrate until we both got cold :)
well, here's an update as to what mom and i have been doing lately...
around thanksgiving, mom and i were rough housing and she found a little bump about the size of a pea on my side behind my elbow... not a big deal, but she said she'd keep an eye on it. just before christmas, she noticed that it was getting bigger, and i just couldn't keep myself from licking it and trying to chew it off... so she made an appointment at doctor pol's office. he said that because it's bothering me, it should come off. he said it was a mast cell tumor. so, ... mom took me in last tuesday morning to have surgery and told the vet to send the lump to the lab to find out what else we should do. i feel ok, but i have a hard time not licking my stitches. mom put one of her boyfriend's t-shirts on me to keep me from licking :)
i'll let you know what we find out about my lump... :)
