Tonka was about 5 minutes away from being euthanized. They were going to put him to sleep for being so timid and scared (he was shaking in the back corner of his cage). Though he showed no signs of aggression, or any meanness in him, they were still opting to put him down due to his lack of "adoptability". In other words, he didn't adjust to the kennels at quickly as they wanted.
So we started our rescue/foster program. Tonk was badly abused. Hit with a newspaper, kicked, all around mistreated. He takes a long time to warm up to strangers and gains trust little bits at a time. He's afraid someone it going to hit him again. He is a sweet soul who really just loves to be around nice friendly people who through balls for him. His favorite game is fetch and boy is he good at it.
he loves to drop the ball and nudge it around until you throw it.
Tonka gets along great with other dogs, but i would suggest he stay away from cats (he's a little too rough for them). He had kids at his previous owner's place so he knows how to play with them as well.
He bonds very quickly and very deeply and will follow you around hoping to please.
Tonka has an all around GREAT personality and really loves to snuggle.
He is 2 years old, Neutered, Kennel/House trained, and Has Basic Commands Down To A "t".

Unfortunately, due to some ingrained abuse and mental issues, we had to have Tonka euthanized. We miss him and hope that things will be perfect the next time around for him. We are so sorry we couldn't do more for you big guy! RIP Feb 2002 - Aug 2004
