Birthday: January 1st 2003 Likes: To be with her family at the lake. Pet-Peeves: Someone at the door or at the back gate. Favorite Toy: My little sister Maizy and my boy Morocco Favorite Food: Not Picky at all. Loves it all. Favorite Walk: At the lake or a river. Best Tricks: RockStar stands on her hind feet, and she's so big, it's impressive! Arrival Story: RockStar was at the Shelter. She had not been there more than 10days. I took her home because she was so sick. She had whipworms and needed to get over them and rest and gain weight. She was brought to the Shelter as a stray from Skidmore MO area. A coon hunter brought her in because he said she was getting in on the hunts and attacking/killing the racoons? She had been shot in the rear end with rock salt (ouch!). When I took her to be spayed, the Vet asked who had beaten RockStar because she saw old wounds on her from head to toe. I told her about the coon fighting and being wild in the country...which explained the scars. Rockstar could only handle going for walks at night and even then she'd often freak out and curl up into a corner somewhere and not want to get up for awhile. She was taken to a Parade when she was at the Shelter (sick) and freaked out and broke loose and hid under a porch for hrs. Besides that, the same volunteer gave her an Ajax bath because RockStar smelled like a skunk and cow poo....so she had a pretty traumatic time with people besides fending for herself in the wild. I was only going to help her heal and then find her a home, or return her to the Shelter...but a few yrs later, I feel she is still in recovery. Bio: She may never be "normal", calm or relaxed with life. She's afraid of noises and strangers...she gets hurt all the time trying to avoid things that scare her. I'd hate to count the stitches she's had or the wounds I've doctored or the things she has broke. But she's loved allot and hugged allot and always reminded that she is beautiful AND SPECIAL.
June 5th, a Wednesday, 2007. RockStar and Hoola Lou went to War against each other. They were serious. My daughter and I were nearly useless. She finally managed to get RockStar tied around the flanks while I held Hoola with my arms wraped around her flanks. We worked till we got RS secured to a fence post. Then my daughter went to call the Vets office, I knew we'd need them soon. I secured Hoola with a long leash around her flanks and held on until they tired enough that I could drag Hoola off. She immediatly went with me , when RockStar was no longer able to advance on her. With the big girls seperated and hurt, and us exhausted...I contemplated. The Vet was comming, when he could get away...what should I do? I have two large dogs that want to fight and are both now injured. The day was hard on us all. In the end RockStar went to a place where I trust she'll always feel loved and safe and won't ever need to act aggressive, or run scared, or know physical pain. She was an AWSOME dog, BEAUTIFUL, a loyal companion, a fierce protector, and a lesson. I hope I did not waste her time here on earth. I trust we will meet again and I will know.
