Saying good-bye

Thank you so much for all your support during this difficult time. You all reached out to us, and made a sad time a little easier for us.

Chloe was such a sweet, loving girl. There wasn't a mean bone in that dog's body. She was the sort of dog who never complained, who never got cranky. She was just a joy to be around.

We thought we would have more time with her. But this last week was so hard on her. She couldn't stand without help. When she walked she stumbled and fell after only a few steps. And she was beginning to have trouble breathing. We realized it was time to let her go. One blessing is that we had her in our lives for 12 1/2 years. (we adopted her when she was 2 yrs) Another is that until this month, she had never suffered any major illness in her life.

So we took her to McDonalds and bought her a Happy Meal of her very own. Then we took her to the Vet's and gave her some chocolate, a forbidden treat, to make her parting sweet and peaceful.

I adopted Chloe when we had our first dog, Mojo. They were inseparable. Chloe loved Mojo and was lost for a long time after Mojo passed away. So I hope they are now together once again.

We are so sorry for your loss.
Our sincerest condolences go out to you.

Those two sentences about the Happy
Meal and the chocolate broke my mom's
heart. Made her eyes leak.

I know it's been awhile since Chloe left you and I hope the good memories of her are helping to heal the loss. Although I know all goldens look a lot alike, we have a 10 year old golden, Shania, and she looks so much like your Chloe. It is obvious from your story and from your pictures, Chloe was very much loved and had a wonderful life.
