Birthday: March 25th 2001 Likes: Trixie will retrieve anything she can carry! Pet-Peeves: When you make her stop retrieving so she can rest...or when Papa is taking a break from hunting...she doesn't understand why they are stopping! Favorite Toy: She'll chew on a bone all day! Favorite Food: She's a Lab!!! They eat first and ask what it was later! OH....she does have a fond taste for pieces of wood! Favorite Walk: She's a swimmer! Best Tricks: My husband was huting without her one morning with a friend and his dog, Lyla, when it was clear the dog was NOT going to bring back a duck accross the river. My husband went all the way home...brought Trixie back and she retrieved it on the first send! Arrival Story: We are Trixie's FOURTH home! The first couple received her as a gift and decided an energetic lab was the last thing an elderly couple needed. At three months, the giver of the gift, their son, took her to his house and at six months was going to put her down because he didn't really want her either. Her third home rescued her from certain death because he didn't want to see her put down, but he wasn't exactly prepared to take on a dog either. She was 14 months old when we stumbled upon her and with the exception of a few quirks...she's the none the worse! She's a lab after all and they just let everything roll off their backs! Bio: Trixie is my husband's ever faithful hunting partner and we're pretty certain she's going to be the best hunting dog he'll ever have! At six years old she acts more like a two year old and has never quite calmed down...which is good if you're a hunter! She's the first one out to hunt and the last to come in...she's our girl! Forums Motto: Let's HUNT! The Groups I'm In: Molly Inspires Foundation The Last Forum I Posted In: Another what breed for me post! On Leon....: She pretty much ignores little Leon...in fact when he was just one pound, she almost sat on him!! He tries so hard to get her attention and she refuses to acknowledge his presence!
Labradors calm down at 3?: Trixie's mother is 10 years old and will retrieve ALL Day! Her owners have an autistic grandchild that will launch a stick off of their dock for hours and he will give up before she will!!! I've been waiting for 3 years for Trixie to get out of her puppy stage.....I don't think it's going to ever happen! It's in her genes! My husband thinks it's WONDERFUL!
