Arrival Story: My mommy used to be scared of pit bulls just like everyone else. It wasn’t until her boyfriend bought a pit named Dante (against her wishes of course), that she learned that the misconceptions of pit bulls are one of the saddest animal travesties of all time. Dante proved to be one of the smartest, most loyal and gentlest dogs my mom had ever met. Mom did extensive research on the breed and found that we are in the top 5 breeds of dogs to be around children. My mom had to apologize to her boyfriend and Dante for doubting them and she even admitted she was wrong. When my mom was ready for a dog of her own, she went to the humane society and was devastated to see that almost 85% of the dogs there were pits who had the potential to be just as sweet as Dante, but were plagued with irresponsible owners. Unfortunately, most people are uneducated on the breed so no one would adopt them. She was so sad that she could not even concentrate on picking one out and had to leave. Just a few days later, I was found wandering alone in the streets when I was only 3 months old. A wonderful lady from the Pit Bull Rescue in our area called my mommy and asked if she wanted to meet me. Of course she fell in love with me right away (just look at my face), but wanted to make sure I was the right dog. I went home with her for a weekend and met my veterinarian. He took one look at me and told my mommy, “He’s a keeper.” I passed my temperament tests with flying colors and showed no signs of aggression. Since mom adopted me, I have changed her life in such a positive way. I am taking agility classes and hopefully will go off to college one day to become a therapy dog. Mom thinks that will be a great way to expose me to others so they can change their minds about us just like she did. I am so thankful that I found a wonderful owner who loves me so much. I never take my mommy for granted because I know what my fate could have been if I ended up in the wrong hands.

Bio: Please don't believe all the pit bull hype in the media. Everybody knows that reporters will do anything to sell a story, and don't always report the truth. Almost every dog "attack" is reported in the news as involving pit bulls, regardless of the actual breed. Please do your own research on my breed from reputable sources such as www.badrap.org, www.pitbullpress.com, & www.pbrc.net.
