Quick Bio:

Likes:
I just love to play...I play with other dogs, with my humans and with toys!

Pet-Peeves:
I don't like being left all alone, I like a little company even if it is a stuffed animal.

Favorite Toy:
My favorite toy is a squeeky hedge hog, but after playing with my siblings I am usually too tired to play with it!

Favorite Food:
Chicken jerky and peanut butter!

Favorite Walk:
Anywhere, walks are great! I particularily enjoy going around the lake and checking for fishys!

Best Tricks:
I am still a puppy, so sit and shake are what I do best. I plan on learning sit/stay, down and down/stay though!

Arrival Story:
This is my third "home" in 10 months. I was originally adopted from the North Shore Animal League by a family with seven chidren. I stayed with them for 8 months then, my foster dad saw and advertisement in the local paper for a free Siberian Husky and immediately called my foster mom with the number. My foster mom called and found out that while I was loved in this home, things weren't working out for me and I needed a new home ASAP. My foster parents agreed to take me and try to re-home me with Tails of the Tundra Siberian Husky Rescue. In keeping with the TOTTSHR theme of Native American names, my original name, Sparky, was changed to Lakota, they call me Kota though.

Bio:
First and foremost, I am still a puppy! I have a lot of energy and manage to tire out all four of my siblings and still have energy to spare! I love having a playmate, preferably a tolerant and energetic one. I am very respectful of doggy signals and will back off when growled at or I see that famous lip curl going on ( My brother Dakota is a natural Elvis with that lip curl thing). I love to share my toys, food and water - mom says too much because all dogs aren't so free with personal things.

I just have to tell you all what happened last night. It was so exciting, so shocking and so unbelievable. Mom and dad are still stunned!!!

So, there I was...hanging out in the living room while mom watched American Idol (don't hold that against her). Sheena was perched in "her" chair just as bored as me...who cares if they can sing or not, really, what a waste of time. I kept looking out the window at Loki and Shelcy wanting to play with them, but mom said it was getting close to bed time and I needed to calm down...so there I sat bored out of my fur. I was so bored I was wishing I had a flea to play with, but mom took all those away too!

Then, the unbelievable happened....Sheena, the mean dog that grunts and growls at me, decided to teach me furniture olympics!!! Oh, I was so excited I didn't know what to do at first. At first I ran from her thinking, "oh no, I made her mad and I am done for!" Then I realized she wanted me to chase her, so I did...we jumped on the loveseat, flew off of that for a quick land on the floor and then soured to the couch...back and forth, back and forth for about 30 minutes! I never caught her either...she is fast! Then we collapsed, too tired to stir....so much for settling down before bedtime! Mom didn't even tell us to stop, she was simply stunned that Sheena warmed up to me so quickly and was unable to talk. She just sat in her chair with her hands up protecting her face in the event we decided to bound onto her...I did that earlier in the day...that was fun too!

Foster Dog?

Hi, my name is Lakota II...it used to be Sparky, but now I am a foster dog (whatever that means) and my name is Lakota II . The group that is fostering me had a name theme, Native American, and I was the L puppy, mom chose Lakota only to find out the group already had a Lakota, so I am Lakota II. My new dad calls me "The Duece"! I think that is pretty cool!!

Anyway, I went from a house with seven kids and no four-legged playmates to a house with four crazy Siberian Huskies to entertain me! Wow, I never knew how much fun other dogs could be...we wrestle constantly and I have mastered "jaw wrestling" (it is similar to thumb wrestling, but since we don't have thumbs, we use our jaws)!

I have made friends with Shelcy, Loki and Dakota. They all like to play with me, especially Loki - he lets me tackle him a lot. Shelcy is feeling a bit left out because she used to be Loki's favorite, but I play with her a lot too...I don't want her to feel bad. Mom says things will get back to normal soon when the newness of me wears off...hey I hope that is a good thing.

Sheena doesn't really like me too much. She growls and grunts at me a lot, but mom says that is just Sheena. She doesn't like it when I go near her, so I steer clear of her. As least she doesn't pick fights with me.

Mom and dad are pretty good to me too. They felt bad that I slept in the basement the first night so they let me sleep in the computer room with Loki now. I like having the company...just in case the boogey man comes! I know Loki will protect me, I am his pal! Mom and dad also like giving belly rubs and I am all about getting them! Mom says I don't stay still long enough for love though.... but that too will change when the newness wears off.

So far being a foster dog is a pretty good deal. I will keep you posted....

The Duece
