Arrival Story:
just for the heck of it, i was looking up pets on http://www.craigslist.org in the new area we were moving too. we had adopted a rat terrier but she isn't into children (we have a 7 year old living with us) and we knew we wanted to eventually get a lab because they love anybody and are really great with children! i emailed the lady and asked questions about angel and drove an hour and a half to take a look at her. i didn't even ask my other half if we could get another dog. as soon as i saw her i knew she was meant for us! she was a very small lab, and 2 years old. the male owner wanted to get rid of her because they had a german shepard that was attacking her. the dog split open angels chest and took out a chunck of her nose. he said he would rather have a guard dog than a submissive dog. the owners were using angel for breeding, and we knew we didn't want to breed her. we wanted a family dog, not a money making dog. i called scott, my boyfriend, on my way home and told him i am bringing home a surprise! i got her home and he saw her and said "why did you get another dog? i don't want another dog right now..." but after about 2 minutes with her, it was love! we then drove out to pick up koral, scotts little girl, from school and we had angel with us....scott hid around the corner of the school and i went inside her room to get her. when we came out, i said let's walk over that way for a minute, then she saw a beautiful black dog and said "can we go and pet the dog" (she loves anything with 4 legs) and i said sure! we walked over to angel and scott came around the corner, and koral was very very excited! i told her surprise! this is our new dog :) it made her year! angel is definetly our little angel sent to us from heaven!
Bio:
angel was a strictly out door dog when we adopted her, but we wanted an indoor/outdoor dog. we crated her to help potty train her when we weren't home, and after 2 days we thought she could be potty trained because she didn't have an accident inside while we were home....i came home at lunch time to let her out of her crate, not realizing my boyfriend had decided to let her rome free, and take her and nicki (our rat terrier) for a walk, and there was poop and pee everywhere in the house....we decided she wasn't ready to be uncrate trained. now, she is a totally potty trained dog, she has complete run of the house when we are gone :o) there is nothing like dogs greeting you when you come home after a day at the office :o)
