 Quick Bio:
Likes: Playing with anything, snuggling under the covers, following Mom around the house, rawhide chews, doggie day care, walks (especially off-leash!)

Pet-Peeves: not being able to chase the cat, staying in his crate after 7am

Favorite Toy: He loves a rawhide chew, but also squeaky toys or anything on the floor

Favorite Food: Like big bro' Deuce, he likes steak. Also, chicken, peanut butter, cheese... this guy eats anything. But only allowed to eat small amounts at a time!

Favorite Walk: Well, we're still working on the leash thing. He likes to walk anywhere I go, though.

Best Tricks: So far he has learned how to sit. More to come!

Arrival Story: I was volunteering at a local animal shelter doing an adoption day. After we had returned to the shelter from the adoption site, we were about to get in the car and go home. Two men came in with a crate with an animal in it, but I thought nothing of it at the time. One of the shelter workers had gotten this little fella out and was holding him, just checking him out. The two men wanted to "trade him in" for another puppy. They claimed he was "nervous". This could not be further from the truth. I saw my sweet little guy and fell in love. I have always had a soft spot for the Dachsi's, but this guy was something special. There he was, sitting in filth, looking pitiful and ill. The shelter workers told the men that they wouldn't be able to take the dog from them because they didn't have proof of living in the county. I saw that this dog needed some love and some proper care, and asked them what they wanted for him. We agreed on $50, so I ran to the bank and had my new little man. As soon as I had him in my lap, I realized this cutie pie needed to see a vet ASAP. Seeing as how it was a Saturday afternoon around 5pm, this was a challenge. After asking the workers at the shelter for advice, I ran him down to an Emergency Vet Hospital in Watkinsville, GA. We took him in knowing that he was not a healthy boy, but we weren't certain what exactly was wrong with him. We figured he had worms. If only...
The emergency hospital was fantastic. They ran some tests, poked and prodded little fella, and came at me with the news. Imus had parvo. "OK, so what do we do?" They gave me some options. 1: We can see if he pulls through. Chances of survival and like half a percent. 2: We can begin aggressive treatment, hang IV fluids, give antiemetics, the whole thing and he'll have about a 50/50 chance. There's a catch, though. It's going to cost a WHOLE LOT to do this. So here I am, a new graduate with a brand new house and brand new bills and little to no savings. I've got this cute little puppy who I've had for probably 1-2 hours now. There were no guarantees about whether or not he would live or die and if he did live what he would be like, etc. But I am not one to let a cute little pooch like Imus just die. So we did the aggressive treatment. After the weekend we took little fella to another vet for the week. He was in and out of the vet's office for about a week and a half.
He did great and now is just as happy and crazy as he can be. It was perhaps divine intervention for those men to drop off the little guy right as we were there. I'm glad they did, though. He is an awesome little boy.

Bio: Imus is absolutely hilarious. He is so playful and loving, but not annoying about it. He loves to roll around and snort and get belly rubs. He gives the sweetest nose kisses! The only one who isn't too into him is Cami, the calico cat in the house. Although, she flirts with him from afar. She really loves to play hard to get with him.
