I received a Pup Pal Message from My PUP PAL MANGO and His Mommy!
They wanted to Know...
HOW am I going to Eat with NO TEEFERS?
I know they are SO Concerned about Me!
We sent this Reply...
And thought it would Be a GREAT Post in My Diary,
That OTHERS Might have the Same Concern...
SO Here is Our Reply!

Hi Mango and Mango's Mommy!
1st of All THANK YOU for the New Rosette!
They Make ME and Mommy SO Happy!
Mom says Everyone Thinks I am SO Special,
And LUCKY to have such WONDERFUL PUP PAL'S!
((( TWIRLS )))!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now My Teeth!!!
Mom was SO Worried When The Doc called her,
And told her that My Gum Disease was SO Bad...
That I lost ALL of My TOP Teeth and all the Front LOWER Teeth!!!
She thought the SAME Thing!
OH MY...
HOW am I going to EAT???
She CRIED!
Thinking that It was going to be REALLY ROUGH on ME!
When she came to Pick Me Up...
She was SO SCARED!!!
( She was still CRYING! )
She just did not know WHAT to EXPECT!
Before they came and got Me,
The Doc wanted to speak with Mom and Dad...
To Explain My situation to them,
And Explain My After Care etc.
The Doc told Mom and Dad that I was in MORE Pain before My Surgery,
Then I was right now AFTER Surgery!
He also told Mom...
That right now I had to have a SOFT Diet,
Of "BOILED" Chicken with Rice...
Ground Hamburger/Ground Turkey/Ground Chicken and Rice,
Just as some suggestions.
That was ALL good because that is what Mom makes for Us anyway...
So I LOVE ALL of the above!
I also LOVE My HARD Pellets too though.
Mom asked about them!
The Doc said right now I can only Have SOFT Food.
But in a FEW Weeks,
I can eat My HARD Pellets again!
He said that WE/PUPS do not NEED our Teeth to Chew!
AMAZING isn't it!
That they are More for Self-Defence!
That when My Gums Heal,
They will Harden...
And I will be just FINE!
( Mom says Her Grandmother Ate EVERYTHING without Her Teeth!
She had Dentures,
But Took them Out to EAT!
So even Humans can eat without TEEFERS!
GOOD TO KNOW Huh! SMILE! )
Mom thought...
YEAH, RIGHT!
She thought she was going to have to FORCE Feed Me,
And Use a Medicine Dropper to get Water into Me!
OH NO!!!
Well,
When I got HOME,
I was SO Thirsty!!!
I was allowed to Have a LITTLE Bit of Water.
I went to My Bed an Rested...
Then I THOUGHT,
I am HUNGRY TOO!
I went and Nudged Mom,
Like I usually Do!
She and Dad were AMAZED!
They said...
He's Hungry!
Let's give him a LITTLE of His Turkey,
( Mom made a Turkey for Memorial Day Dinner...
The day before MY Surgery,
Just so I would Eat well before I went in...
Since she did not Think I was going to be able to eat when I got out,
And she knows how much I LOVE Turkey!
I eat Chicken Every other day!
So this was a SPECIAL Treat just for ME! )
:)
Anyway...
Mom cut it up REALLY Fine...
And GUESS WHAT???
I ate the ENTIRE Serving.
I even Wanted MORE!!!
But Mom did Not want Me to get Sick and Throw it Up.
The Doc said the First night Home,
To give Me a few SMALL Meals...
And see how I tolerate the Food after the Anesthesia,
As sometimes We will Throw Up!!!
I DID NOT!
I am eating WAAAAYYYYYYYYYY...
Better now then BEFORE My Surgery!
( I just have to Watch I do not Gain the 2 Pounds that I lost Back! )
LOL!!!
I Feel and am SO Much Healthier since I lost those 2 Pounds!
MUCH Easier to go on LONG Walks!
I have 1 More Pound to Lose!
Mom was right,
Losing Weight is REALLY Hard!
But she is Helping Me BIG Time!
I am a Lucky Guy!!!
OH,
And GUESS What???
Last Night I stole one of Harley's Pellets!
I actually Tried to Eat a HARD Pellet!
I couldn't!!!
But I Tried.
Mom surely does not have to worry about Me Eating...
And either does your Mommy.
Tell her I will let her know when I am Eating EVERYTHING Again!
Especially the HARD Pellets,
Cause MY MOM Just can't believe things until she SEE'S Them!
SO...
As you see,
I am doing GREAT Considering what I have been through.
I have a Really DRY Cough,
And Mom was Scared...
So she called the Doc!
He told her that Because of the Surgery and the Anesthesia,
They put a Tube down My Throat to help Me Breathe...
And that Tube Cause Me some irritation.
It should heal in a few days.
Other than that...
I am on My way to a FULL RECOVERY!
((( TWIRLS)))!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am getting Stronger each and EVERY Day!

It may Help other Mommy's and Daddy's,
To Be a Bit at Ease incase their Babies have to Have Dental Work Done.

PONCHO is HOME!

Hello My Fellow DOGSTER Friends and PUP PALS!
I just wanted to Update you ALL on PONCHO!
Poncho did Come HOME Last Night!!!
:)
( Sorry I could not Break away from Him to get on-line! )
I know you all understand!
Poncho has a Bit of a Rough Road ahead of him...
And he seems a Bit confused,
Like what Happened to My Teeth??
But they assure Me that in a few weeks...
He will be just fine.
Poncho has to Remain on Antibiotics for a few More weeks,
And he does have Pain Meds. as well.
He is resting Comfortably.
I am SO Happy he Pulled through this Surgery.
:)
And,
His Prognosis is EXCELLENT!
So I THANK YOU ALL for your Thoughts and Prayers...
They WORKED!!!
GOD is GOOD!
( Even to his Littlest Creatures! )
SMILE!!!
I also wanted You all to know how VERY Much your Thoughtful Messages...

PONCHO IS OUT OF SURGERY!!!

I JUST GOT THE CALL!
Poncho is Out of Surgery!
Unfortunately...
Poncho lost ALL of his TOP Teeth,
And a FEW of his Bottom Teeth.
The Infection is Still Pretty Bad,
And his will remain on Antibiotics...
As well as PAIN Medication.
The Doc said he is Still VERY GROGGY...
But he DID pull through the Surgery.
I have to Call back after 4 P.M. to see if they want Him to Come Home today,
Or if they want to Keep him Overnight.
For MYSELF...
I would like him to come Home,
But I know that the Vet will only do what is BEST for PONCHO...
And I accept that.
I too want what is BEST for Poncho!!!
I am SO Thankful that he Pulled through,
And Let's Hope its all a SPEEDY Recovery from here!!!

This is Poncho's Mommy,
Well...
Here I sit.
Today is Poncho's Surgery,
I hardly slept at ALL last night.
GOSH this is SO Hard.
Ponch had to be at the Hospital at 8 A.M.,
I Cried from the Minute I got in the Car with Him,
Until they took him from Me...
And even NOW the Tears are still rollong down My Cheeks.
I KNOW he HAS to have this Surgery...
But I can only Pray that Everything goes SmOOOthly.
I SO LOVE this Little Guy!
YOUR Thoughts and Prayers are SO Appreciated.
Where else can One turn in a Time like this???
I am SO Thankful for ALL Of you here at DOGSTER!!!
If ANYONE Can Relate to what I am going through,
At this very moment in time...

UGH OH...SURGERY this coming TUESDAY, 5/29/07

HI PUP PALS!
I just want to ask for your Prayers right now...
I am Scared,
And Mommy is SCAREDER!!!!
( Is that a Word? )
She LOVES me SOOOOOOOOOOOO Much,
And I have been Pretty Sick!
My Vet has Been treating My Gum Disease with Antibiotics for Quite awhile Now...
But it's now to the Point where I NEED to have The Surgery to Remove the Gum Disease as well as some Teeth.
I was alot heavier...
And have been TRYING to Lose weight the past few Months too!
( NO, it's not any easier on Us Pups! )
But GOOD News,
I am down 2 Pounds!!!
I was 10 Pounds,
I am now 8....
My Vet says he will Settle for 7 Pounds,
As IDEAL For Me is 4 to 5 Pounds!
They also Did Pre-Op Testing on Me...
They "THOUGHT" I was having Heart Problems,
Possibly Heart Failure.
As SOMETIMES The Infection from Our Teeth and Gums can get into Our Blood Stream and affect Our hearts and other Organs!!!
After an EKG,
They Have determined I am not in Heart Failure...
But I do have to be Monitored Closely During My Surgery.
I also have some Blood Levels out of whack...
But they Believe it's all related to My Gum Disease.
I have been on MUCH STRONGER Antibiotics the past 2 weeks...
And now My Surgery is just 2 more days away.
Mom has Cried a Few times,
And I know she is SO Worried.
SO...
IF your reading this,
PLEASE Say a Prayer for the 2 of Us!!!
We'd Really appreciate it.
I am sure Mom will Be back to update you ALL on ME as soon as she knows how things went.
