This is me, the day of my final surgery. Not a bad day for my last, at 15.

Arrival Story:
Max was found, in the woods, taking shelter in an abandonned vehicle. He was emaciated and only a puppy. My husband at the time, was on a dirt bike and had no way of transporting the young, scared dog. So he came to my work place and got my vehicle and went back to the area. The puppy was very frightened and didn't want to go in the vehicle, but he was too weak to protest too much. He had his vet visit and it seems that he had been trying to live on eating berries and was near death. We also think that jerks had tried to drown him in the nearby lake as he had a lifelong fear of water. Very unusual for a black lab. He became our first dog and turned out to be almost pure bred black lab. We had to learn about dogs as we went. Poor Max had to put up with a lot of our mistakes in raising him.

Bio:
Max was a dog who loved to play. He was good with all of the various pets we had along the way. Max was stricken with brain cancer at the ripe old age of 15. The day of the surgery I was able to take him and Tasha for a nice bush walk. The plan was that if the surgery indicated that it was indeed cancer, they would not let him wake up. So during that walk, I was secretly saying goodbye to him and enjoying the fact that even on what might be his last day, he was enjoying himself and still very active and running and jumping like a little pup.
