Last night mum really appreciated what a good dog i am and while the following may not seem the greatest behaviour on earth, it really comes in handy for such like situations.

Last night at 10.50pm mum got a phone call from her mum ( my nan ). Nan was worried about her dad ( we'll call him Great Grandad here instead of referring to him as Nan's dad etc ) She had been phoning him from Sunday lunchtime all through Monday until she phoned mum with no answer. They had called in to him on Saturday and got no answer at the door. The rest of the family had nothing of him and Nan was worried he may have fell over ( he's 83 in November ) or was depressed. So she asked mum whether she could quickly drive down his road to see if any lights were on. So mum agreed, she got me on the lead and bundled me in the car ( which i must say i was rather surprised by at 11 at night! ) GG had no lights on and there seemed to be no sign of any movement inside. Thinking he may just be in bed mum returned home and phoned Nan. She still didn't feel right about the situation so she decided to come round and knock for GG. By the time she arrived at mums it was getting on for 11.30 and mum and me jumped in the car and raced round to GG's.

We arrived at his house, preparing for every eventuality. Mum put me in a sit stay while she looked through the windows of the bungalow. I sat there good as gold, shivering and whining a bit, but i stayed. GG didn't respond and Nan began to worry even more. Mum then suggested shouting "Dad" through the letterbox because it was possible GG was in bed or just scared to open the door so late. Finally the hallway light went on and a rather startled GG appeared at the door BOL. Nan told him how she'd been worried etc and just had to come over and GG was ever so grateful for the thought, he wasn't angry he'd been waken at 12am. Again once we entered, mum put me in a sit stay and i was ever so good. She had to help GG with his mobile phone as he had switched it off hence no one being able to contact him and he had 13 messages BOL. Mum didn't want me running around the bungalow or tripping GG over so she made me stay and i did.

After that rather long ( and boring ) story, sorry BOL, mum was just very appreciative of how i stayed calm and obedient in an unusual situation. Most dogs would have been leaping around, excited etc but i remained my usual laid back self and listened to what mum wanted.

Oh Tyler you are such a good doggie - I bet you were wondering what on earth was going on being so out of routine. Thank goodness your GG was alright. They can be such a worry at that age sweetie. Well done
