We are back from our 2012 prairie road trip to visit our nephew.
It was a tough one. I was sick, then Mom was very sick. And it was super cold. We were just missing blizzards and horrible roads on the way home.
Mom is still sick.
But, we did do lots of quality visiting thanks to my uncle who took good care of us.
Nephew was amazing. It was worth it just to see him doing so well. Mom also met, for the first time, uncle's girlfriend (sweetheart!), her youngest nephew and her great nephew (both super cute!). Also, Mom got to see her longtime friend from elementary school. They laughed so much that Mom's guts are still sore from that.
We will write more about it all later. For now, Mom just needs to rest before having to go back to work.
Despite your illnesses, it was wonderful you could see your nephew and everyone else during your prairie. You must have left early this week just as the storm started. We are still getting snow today. It might be a long winter here. Glad you are home safe and sound!
Hello dear Abby! We thought of you often on our trip. We just managed to avoid the inevitable bad roads. We drove back the whole way on Monday through Tuesday morning.
SO sorry you were/are both sick. Mum A.... rest best you can.
Also SO good you got to see your nephew and that he is doing great. Nice to meet friends new and old too.
Rest.. get well.. and glad it was a good trip.
Thank you Flicka! We are trying to get back to normal here. We have lots of good new memories now.
Welcome back. Sounds like, despite you and Mom being sick, you both had a good time.
We're glad you avoided those stormy roads.
glad you are both back, but sorry that you have been sick and Mom too, feel better
We were so lucky about the roads. A few hours one way or the other and they would have been terrible!
Thank you everyone for the nice welcome back.
You were lucky about the roads, Lobo. Due to that snow storm, some highways were closed around the Alberta border. You got out of P.A. just in time. You must have hit the storm in Alberta. Glad you and your mom are home safe and sound. Hopefully you both had a good rest last night.
Hi Abby! It was close. We missed some of the bad snow near Lloyd (there was a foot in the fields, but roads were good). We think we just beat a blizzard in Jasper. It was starting to come down and sure cold & blowing, but once again, roads were good. We did not stop! We kept on going all through the night. It was snowing the whole way, but not sticking to the roads yet. Phew! We had checked the forecast and learned the southern route, through Calgary/Banff, was not a good idea. That sure helped us avoid some of the bad stuff.
