A few staples are missing ...

I am doing very well but Mom is worried about a few of the staples that I managed to pull out.
The vet said my incision is still okay but I have to be kept from licking it. I keep busting my cones or slipping out of them. So, Mom is buying another one and taping it to the most recent one. We hope that will keep me from breaking them and getting at my knee.
The cut looks really bad as it is so long, but it doesn't hurt at all. Hurts less than before the surgery. We are still going on walkies! But, I cannot be loose in the yard and run around. So just leash walks.
If all goes well, I should be good as new about a week from now.
When you see how much fur was shaved off of me, you will understand why we are glad that cold snap is over! But I have not been staying outside at all while we deal with this. Just short times on the deck, with my cone, and our frequent little walks.
When Mom is at work, I have been in the basement. She comes home on a break to let me out and check on me. And, her ex has volunteered to puppy sit me for some of those days. She couldn't take a break on Superbowl Sunday. So I have been going over to their house too.
Love,
Lobo

I saw from your picture, Lobo, where the staples are missing. Just try to be a good boy and not lick it. I know you are feeling better, but just leave it alone. We have also had a very mild winter this year, and that sure is nice for everybody. Just one more week, and then you can do whatever you want!

They always put more in than you need... and you are healling fast... it will be fine.

Tell Mum to bath it with a cotton pad ... 1 pint of boiled cooled water.. one teaspoon of salt in it. Doesnt sting... is the best and simplest antiseptic there is. Can be used for humans and animals as a gargle/eye rinse/antideptic.

You are doing fine sweet Boy... so is Mum.

You may not have been the one who removed the staples as sometimes they are put in areas that cause them to pop out on their own. Remember when I had to go get re-stampled? It was because the staples were in an area of lots of movement and the movement caused them to come out. I'm trying to cast doubt away from you - BOL, BOL

Evfurry day that goes by, you are healing more and more. I know the staples are annoying, and so is the cone, when all you want to do is lick! But pawrents are pretty stubborn about this stuff. Try to be good!

Thank you so much our good friends! We are very encouraged by everything that you are telling us. We will do the cleaning that you mentioned Flicka. Mom has been washing it with a saline solution. I'm looking pretty good tonight. Mom has that cone taped up and on pretty good for tonight. Good to know that a few blown staples might not be a big deal. Especially on the tip of my knee where there is lots of movement just in walking.

My problem spot is already looking lots better today. Amazing how much it healed in one day!
The kitties are exaggerating, as usual. They are still getting attention and played with. But Mom is getting tired trying to keep on top of everything.
