Pet-Peeves:
Being told to do something he doesn't want to do

Favorite Toy:
His "rat rope" (a short, thick rope tied in knots at the ends, which he shakes like a rat.)

Favorite Food:

Favorite Walk:
Bristol (CT) Dog Park

Best Tricks:
He doesn't know any tricks yet -- we're working on it ;-)

Arrival Story:
Now that Squeegee has gone to the Bridge, Sandy was lonely and needed a companion. Kip was a 1 year old stray when he was picked up in Manhattan by NYC Animal Care & Control. Eventually, the SPCA of CT (a no-kill shelter in Monroe) took possession of him. When we saw him, poor Kip had been at the shelter for a year! Sandy and Kip really hit it off, and now he has a forever home.

Bio:
Like most terriers, Kip is lovable and funny, but he can also be stubborn and pugnacious. The poor little guy has been living in a kennel for a year, so it'll take him a while to learn (or relearn) about being a house dog. Fortunately, he's smart and he wants to please. Plus, he's got his big sister Sandy to look up to (literally, LOL). Stay tuned for an update. :-)

City Dog In the Country

My Forever Home

I was originally from Manhattan. Somehow I got lost and the nice people at NYC Animal Care and Control picked me up and kept me safe. After a short while a wonderful man named Fred from the SPCA of Connecticut (a no-kill shelter) came and got me and set about finding a new home for me. It wasn't as easy as he and I thought it would be, and I was there for a whole year! Fred and I were starting to wonder if I'd ever be adopted... And then, a few weeks ago, a man called and said he'd seen my picture and info on Petfinders, and wanted to know when he and his wife and their dog could meet me.

When I met Sandy, she and I really hit it off even though she is much bigger than I. It was like we'd known each other forever. We wrestled and ran and played, and I gave kisses and tail wags to the man and his wife. We had such a great time that the man and his wife decided to adopt me on the spot, and I've been here in my forever home ever since. Living in a house is a lot different than a kennel, so I have a lot to learn, but I really want to please my new humans. They've even promised that we can go back to visit Fred, so he can see how his hard work and compassion paid off.

So, shelter dogs -- never give up! There is a loving family for every dog. You might have to wait a while, but with love and a little bit of luck, they will find you!
Love,
Kip
