Arrival Story:
When we decided to move from Georgia to New York, Mom and Dad said we could get a dog once we were there. So... that summer we started looking. We did some research and thought a miniature dachshund might be what we needed. After all, our youngest (5 yrs) wanted a 'lap dog' and her lap was not all that big. One week, we were visiting our Grandma and decided to stop in a local pet shop. The woman there sold dogs from a small group of breeders. The dogs were all in open pens, frolicking with each other and barking like crazy. In the middle of them was one small chocolate and tan dachshund. He seemed amused by the other dogs but did not join in the barking. We all took turns holding him (he fit in one hand!) and playing with him and fell in love. We went back to Grandma's and called Dad, who was home at work, and told him we found the dog we were looking for. He said to get over there and buy it before someone else did. We did... and Snickers became part of the family.
