Arrival Story:
Angel is a rescued dog. I got her from a puppy mill auction in MO on February 14th, 2007 (Valentines Day). No one would bid on her so when the auction was over she was going to be shot. That is when I asked if I could have her. Angel was about 35 inches around with all her matted fur. She was full of 12 years old urine and fesses matting. When I picked her up I could barely see her eyes but I could see her tail waging. I took her home to Ohio and bathed her three times then I shaving off 12 years of nastiness off her. Under all that stinky dirty fur was a tiny little 8-pound dog that was skinny, & dehydrated. She had a curved spine, and a very advanced case of a skin disease called Siberia. After her first grooming I put her on the floor and found that as she walked her back legs couldn't move correctly. They were bound up and very stiff moving. With her curved spine her rear end would almost pass her up when she tried to walk. The reason she had the curved spine is because she'd lived in a tiny 12 inch by 12 inch cage her whole life she had NEVER walked. As a result her hind legs did mot develop right. Angel was very bony and both of her eyes were completely covered with white milky cataracts. While at the puppy mill someone poked something in Angles eye causeing permant damage to her left eye. So between the cataracts and the damage she was mostly blind although she could still see shadows. Angel's eyes formed painful crystals ( "dry eyes"), which caused a lot of matting around her eyes. Angel also snorted all the time, with every breath she snorted very loudly and her tongue was to big for her mouth, which caused her tongue to hang out. There was no doubt this little dog was a "genetic train wreck" and yet the puppy mill still bred her twice a year for 12 years for puppies to be sold at PETLAND! That is why ******* I HATE PETLAND!!!*******AND I WILL NOT BUY ANYTHING THERE! I named this little dog Angel because I felt that by all rights she should have gone to be with the Angels a long time ago. Soon after I got Angel I found out she was full of every kind of canine worm there is. My vet said she'd never seen a dog so packed full worms. I also found out that Angle is completely deaf in one ear and hard of hearing in the other ear. So when she hears me call her she could't tell what direction my voice was coming from. So when she oftentimes walks in the wrong direction looking for me. After 12 years of the horrors and pain of the puppy mill Angel had some behavioral issues. Angel didn't understand humans touching her without giving her pain, so she was a bitter. But since most of her teeth were rotted out and the 6 teeth she had left were deformed in her mouth and facing the wrong direction her bite didn't hurt. But nonetheless in the first few weeks she bit me about 40 times. I am an experienced dog trainer who specializes in severe aggressive behavior correction (my website: CarolHazel.com) I knew how to handle this kind of behavior. I worked with Angel for a few weeks in correcting her behavior. Today (Aug 2007) Angel is a very happy little girl and is no longer a bitter. She has gained 5 pounds and is even starting to look a little fat :-). After so many years with little to no food, and what food she did have was mixed with sawdust so the food would stretch. She is very happy to have good healthy food to eat. I feed her Nutro dog food and as a result the white cataracts in her eyes have cleared up a little. The Siberia skin disease is gone, she does not snort anymore and also her tongue does not seem to be big anymore. Because she has been able to use her back legs they're not as bound up and stiff moving any longer. Her spine is still spine is still curved but she can get around the house and yard much better now. Angel was pretty easy to house train. It only took about one weeks for her to understand she needs to go outside to go potty. Now she goes to the door and scratches at the door to go outside and she never has an accident in the house. Angle is just a joy to have in my life. Ya know, Angel has even started to play with the other dogs! :) Her courage, zeal, and love for life a wonderful sight to behold. Angel is very attached to her family now, and is very loving with all of us.

Bio:
In April 2007 my vet told me Angel is in the beginning stages of urinal failure. She said Angel could live 3 or 4 years with urinal failure. But I am now searching for natural curses to this disease. We have all fallen very deeply in love with Angel and want to prolong her life as long as possible. Angel is a very sweet little dog who is in love with her new life! She makes me laugh everyday I am so glad I rescued her from death. ~~~~~~~UPDATE: ~~~~~~~ On Sept 5th Angel starting making a funny kind of sounds in her breathing. After 4 visits to the ER Vet, and 3 visits to my vet, lots of medications, and breathing treatments, and a few thousand dollars later, I learned she had a huge boney tumor that had filled up her sinuses and was now closing off her air supply. She couldn't eat (she had lost 5 pounds in three weeks) she couldn't drink, and her air supply was almost cut off completely. Because she was 15 plus years old and the tumor was so massive there was no sergery that could be done to save her life. I was forced to put my sweet little Angel baby girl to sleep. It just broke my heart to lose her. I don't think I'll ever get over losing her. But I am glad we blessed each others lives. Sept 19, 2008 Never give up on a dog that needs to be rescued.
