Mom and Dad took me and Minna to one of our favorite places yesterday. When I heard those magical words, "who wants to go to Maggie?", I nearly wet myself in excitement. The thought of running free along all those wide open spaces, all the other excited fur kids running around, so many butts to sniff, so many places to pee on, the beach, the swimming, the running free...Just thinking about it makes me get excited all over again!
Yesterday's adventure was especially pleasing. Minna and I were very good and didn't run off and get lost, which would've made Mom and Dad angry. I know they hate it when I run away, but sometimes I just can't help it. I get a whiff of some yummy smelling little fluffy creature and I just have to rush off and investigate. Sometimes it's worth risking the wrath of Mom and Dad, I know they get over it and will forgive me pretty fast. Suckers.
Anyway, back to Maggie. Yesterday was so hot all day, so by the time we got to Maggie in the evening there were tons of fur kids everywhere. I romped and frolicked with many of them, I left my scent on every rock and tree I could find, and I even tumbled Minna a few times in the smelly dry dirt. She yelled at me a few times and called me some dirty names, but I didn't care, I just chomped down on her scruff and rolled her in the dirt some more. She can be so prissy sometimes, she needed a good roll in the dirt!
By the time we got to the beach I had to try really hard to keep my tongue from dragging on the ground. I was almost too tired to go for a swim, almost. The cold water felt so good though, so I walked as far out from shore as I could go before my paws would leave the ground. I hate when my paws can't feel the ground anymore and I have to paddle, it feels too weird! Minna just stayed close to shore, she was scoping out sunken tennis balls.
After my dip in the lake I came onshore to check out the beach action. There was a tiny little white furry thing that looked like a cottonball with legs running around (I guess it was a kid). He was being chased by a little long-bodied thing (I think that was a kid too) that looked like a hotdog. The sight was too tempting, so I ran over to join the chase. The white cottonball was fun to chase, he was too little and fast to catch, plus he kept running under the picnic table to hide between his dad's legs. Chicken.
After that, Mom and Dad called to me and Minna to go home. I was a little disappointed. I wanted to stay and chase the cottonball a little longer, but I was also pretty tired, so I decided to listen to them and ran up to Mom so she could leash me up.
All in all, it was a great time. As soon as we got home I curled up in my bed and sacked out really hard. So today I'm rested and refreshed and ready to go again.
