5-31-10. Today Bonnie was our last day with Bonnie. Her health had declined and her zest for living was no longer there. It was such a joy and honor to be able to spend my childhood with such an awsome dog. She was perfect for our family. She lived a long and meaningful life. She was nearly 16 when she was PTS. I will never forget her and always cherish the memory of this stellar dog. Bonnie was a real terrier through and through. She hunted all of the small critters in our yard and caught many. When she came to us she was just a goofball with ears way to big for her body and gave kisses so excitedly that she nipped our noses. She spent as much time as possible outside searching through the bushes jumping up the tree trunks and barking at the birds on the wires. She hated swimming but we taught her to swim in case she were to ever fall in the pool. She loved to be pet, but on hers terms. She would lay with someone for a while before heading off. She really had an independent streak that I could admire. As she got older she would allow us to hold her a bit more. She used to perch herself on top of the couch or recliner and look out the windows to alert us of anyone approaching.
