Entry from Firefly In July (http://izma.zymo4.com)

Perere, our little dog with a big heart, crossed the rainbow bridge this afternoon.

We thought he was getting better, but it seemed that even the best vet, medication, prayers, and all our love are not enough to pull him through the internal complications resulting from the motor accident. All morning I was feeling weird.. there’s a sinking feeling that I can’t explain, a foreboding that today will be hard to bear. Mark religiously visited Perere while in confinement, and that morning he said I didnt have to worry because he was still showing strength. But in the afternoon around 3:30pm, he received a text message from the clinic asking him to call….. and right then and there, he knew that something has gotten terribly wrong…. our little Mokie, as we affectionately call him, has expired.

How could one prepare for something like this? I could never be prepared. No one how hard they try can ever be, if you have showered your pet with love and care. I tried to think about our happy memories and funny experiences which for us are alot and far outweigh the bad ones, but at this moment the pain is just horrible.

For the short time that he was with us, I became a better, warmer person… more patient and understanding. And that goes true for Mark. No one can truly explain the bond of affection formed between humans and their pets, but its definitely one of the most amazing things in life. It cannot be understood unless you have personally gone through the experience and endured even the sad parts. Despite this grief and hurting, Mokie was all worth it. We loved him the best we can.

Peredoggie, you changed our lives forever. We will always love and miss you.
