The Best dog in the world!

I'd like to share a story with you of the best dog in the world. Her name is Storm & she's almost 11 years old. We've had some bad spring snow storms here lately (14" last Thursday), and was expecting another foot today. We didn't get the snow, but instead had wind gusts of over 60 mph and temps in the 20's. Now imagine my horror to arrive home at 3pm to find my front door standing wide open. When my fiancee left at 7am apparently he didn't fully close the door. My heart stopped, and I feared that all 4 of my precious babies had gotten out and run off seeking excitement & freedom. Fearful & crying I raced inside and called them. To my amazement the 3 youngest came running from the den to greet me, but no Storm. I called her again & she finally came from out of the bedroom. Still crying I hugged them all & praised them for staying inside. That's when I noticed that Storm was completely soaked and covered with ice on her right side. She likes to lay in front of the door to await our return, and I can only asume that she had spent most of the day in "her spot", since there was also lots of ice & snow inside the doorway & room. She braved all the ice, snow & cold wind to defend her post, not only waiting, but keeping her siblings from venturing outside. It was obvious to me that she had only been away from her post for a few minutes as she was very cold & ice covered on that side. I'm still so very shaken about what "could" have happened had she not been at her post. This brave old girl gave up her own comfort to protect her family and home. Needless to say she got a warm towel rub down, lots of cookies, and even more love!! Many people think that a dog is just a dog, but today Storm proved that they are more. They are protectors, and know when something needs thier attention. She's an old girl who is slowing down in her later years, not only from age, but also arthritis. Her Daddy is bringing home her favorite treat tonight, pizza, and you can bet she gets her own slice :). Thanks for listening and go hug your "furrbabies". They are our world. Storm's Proud Momma
