Leave a bone for Gypsy - @ Rainbow Bridge

Gypsy-doodle; Floofy; Chisel-Snoot; Iron-Tooth

Doggie Dynamics:
not playfulvery playful

Sun Sign:
Quick Bio:

April 1st 1997

Attention and running around outside as long as you're there with her

Having her feet touched, her tail brushed, or being prevented from doing something she wants to do

Favorite Toy:
Dusty, her buddy and our other dog

Favorite Food:
Chicken, meat juices and any people food she can snag that isn't a vegetable

Favorite Walk:
Anywhere in the woods or wherever she can roam off-leash

Best Tricks:
"go around", where she goes around whatever you're pointing at; "bang" where she rolls over and puts her feet in the air.

Arrival Story:
Met her when she was 3 weeks old and bonded ... went back when she was 8 weeks old and picked her up. When I found out my housemate was neglecting her and emotionally confusing and abusing her, and his kid was hitting her when I wasn't home, the BF got booted and she stayed. However, she still has "bad puppy memories" and is a bit of a basket case at times. She has a lot of quirks, not all of them from being around me. Her mother apparently mated with several dogs, as the litter had 4 male/female pairs, and each pair looked like a different breed. When asked what breed she is (people think she's a chow but the vet says no chow at all ... but lots of Keeshond!) we say "Well, she looks sort of like her mother and we think her father was a dog, too" ... hehe.

She's a regular Hairy Houdini -- a real escape artist! Her name of Chisel Snoot came from her stuffing her snout into a chain link fence and rotating it around until the wires pushed apart and left a Gypsy-sized hole in the fence ... took pliers to get it back in shape. The Iron Tooth came from when she got left in the bedroom of our new house and chewed a Gypsy-shaped hole in the wooden door to escape.

I'm finally there ...

I came to the Rainbow Bridge last week ... Mom and Dad are upset, and probably Mom will be for a long time. Dad won't let her get another puppy right now, and a few days before I had to leave her, she got laid off from work. But I did have to leave ... it was time. She'll be ok. But she really wishes Dad would let her get a puppy, because she says Dusty is a "guy dog" and she doesn't want to be alone when they go camping and fishing together. We'll see ...

I can see the Rainbow Bridge from here ...

Mom is sad, even though I keep telling her I'm not ready to go just yet.

But my kidneys aren't working and sometimes I get really sick to my tummy and can't eat. She has special food for me and gives me pills that she hides in braunschweiger (she thinks I don't know but I do!). Twice a day she has to lift me up (My back legs aren't working very well anymore) and put me on a table and stick me with a needle so I get all the fluids I need. The vet said I'm dehydrated and anemic from the kidney failure, but he and Mom are doing the best they can to keep me going until I decide I just can't wait any longer to see what's on the other side of that Bridge.

But I'm still fluffy, even if I'm awfully bony these days. Mom says I should be a super model, the way my hip and shoulder bones stick out! I eat and eat but I don't have as much muscle any more, so it's a good thing I AM fluffy or I'd really be looking skinny!

They took me to Kentucky with them two weeks ago for a vacation and even though I still had to take medication and get stuck with the needle every day, I had a great time sniffing out new smells and wandering around the cabin. I improved quite a bit then, because I'd just started getting the fluids from Mom. The vet was happy and so were Mom and Dad!

Actually, I'm doing pretty well, given the prognosis. The vet says I'm stubborn! Apparently there are bad things in my blood because of the kidneys not working and he said I should probably already be over on the other side by now. But I'm not! :)

I've been TAGGED~!

Kubbi tagged me ... woohoo!!!
Here are the rules:

Each player starts with seven random facts about themselves. Dogs who are tagged, need to post in their Diary the rules & their 7 pawsome facts. Then choose 7 dogs to tag and list their names. Don’t forget to bark them a pmail that they have been tagged and to read your Diary!!!

1. I am a Keeshond mix ... the vet said I have NO CHOW in me, even though people think I do because I'm orange and my tail curls.

2. I'm much more cat-like than most dogs.

3. I'm highly agile and would probably do well in agility training, except for #4 (next)

4. I don't like other female dogs much. I have this "game" where I sneak up and nip them on the rump then run away. Then if Dusty sees it he thinks they're chasing me so he tries to defend me!! But Dad put a stop to that and Dusty just watches now :(

5. I taught Mom to play fetch and a few other tricks like dolphin-bonking things with my nose when I want to go out.

6. I chase birds.

7. I am an escape artiste (yes artiste, not just artist!)

OK I've tagged Jackson, Oliver, Vienna Sausage, Lola Belle, Bailey and Sissy
