Kitty food!

The human "kids" did it again... it all started back in August... There was a big monsoon storm that rolled through (I HATE THUNDER), anyway, after the storm blew through, the human kid and her friend went for a walk - WITHOUT ME, grrr. Next thing I know, they come home with 4 soaking wet little kittens. Something about "screaming kittens, flooded drainage ditch, blah, blah, blah". Thor got bent out of shape and pooped all over the house for about a week... the humans were REALLY MAD at him. He got over it finally. All I know is I love kitties because kitties = CAT FOOD - THE BEST STUFF ON EARTH!

The new pup finally arrived on July 12 @ 5:40 AM! Thor met her first, and of course he liked her instantly... he likes all the girls. I was not entirely thrilled with the new-comer at first. But after a few minutes of my hair standing on end and a few growls of dissapproval, I realized she wasn't so bad, and decided to allow her to be part of the pack. We spent the morning and afternoon hanging out like three peas in a pod! Unfortunately, by late afternoon, it became apparent that our new little pack-mate was not feeling well, and by the next morning she was rushed to the animal hospital... she never came back to play with us. Thor and I are still not sure what happened... all we know is that the humans were (and still are) extremely upset... something about "Parvo", "Redwing Hound Haulers", and "lawsuit". I don't know what that means, but I do know that my nose burns from all the bleaching around here!

What!?

I just heard the humans say we are getting a new packmate - A PUPPY! I don't know if I'm gonna like this... I've got a couple of weeks to come to terms with this whole new puppy thing before she shows up at our house. I'm sure Thor will enjoy the little ball of energy bouncing around, wanting to play ALL THE TIME... ugh, what have my humans done.

Dog Of The Day!

Wow, I woke up this morning to find out that I have been chosen as Dogster's Dog Of The Day! What an honor! Thank you everyone who sent me congrats, gifts, and new pup pal requests! I feel so special! Anyway, it's been a while since my last entry... lots of stuff has happened since then. My 4th, and final litter was born on December 9, 2010. There were 8 beautiful babies... 6 girls and 2 boys! I was spayed/retired when those babies were weaned. I was 6.5 yrs old... I had a long, hard labor with that litter. Mom and dad counted thier blessings that they did not lose me nor my babies and decided it was in my best interest to let me retire. Babies were wonderful, but I am done. I will be turning 8 yrs old next month. Retirement has had it's ups and downs... I seem to have developed some sort of environmental allergy in my later years. Been kind of itchy off and on. Since Thor and I are on a totally grain-free diet, our vet does not think it is food related. I split the cartilage in my left ear a few months ago. Had to have surgery to fix it. I had to wear a god awful e-collar for two weeks. I hated that thing... kept running into everything the whole time I was wearing it! I hope I never have to wear one of those things ever again! My ear will never be the same, it will never stand straight and tall again. Ugh... all that pain and suffering just to end up with a crippled ear anyway. For the first time in my life I will not be traveling this summer. My human sister is starting college on July 9th here in Phoenix, so we are staying home to get her all ready for school. As far as other housemates are concerned, Thor is now 4 yrs old, but still acts like a silly puppy! I don't think he will ever grow up. The ferrets, Weasel and Mini, passed away from old age. The humans brought home a new little ferret, but she slipped out the doggie door during my last litter of babies. The humans searched for months, but they never found her. Just recently, mom and my human sister brought home 2 new baby ferrets... they are trouble, as usual. They run around the house hiding mom's shoes and my squeaky toys! Ferrets are so annoying! I don't know why the humans love them so much. Anyways, I think I've covered the recent happenings in my life. I am ready to go soak up some sun in the back yard. Catch you all later. - Lily

Skunks STINK!

Well, Thor did it this time... and we all suffered from his poor judgement. We were having a nice time at grandma and grandpa's house in Wisconsin. So much space to run and play off leash! Lots of bunnies, squirrels and chipmunks that need chasing. They're so fast, we never are able to catch them! One beautiful morning we met our first skunk. I (being the smarter one) chose not to play the chase game... unfortunately, Thor thought it would be fun to chase the skunk. Next thing I know, there's Thor rolling around on the ground trying to rub the horrible stink off himself! Boy did he STINK! I hope we never meet another skunk - EVER.

It's been a while....

Wow, I can't believe it's been almost 2 whole years since my last diary entry! Lots of things have happened.... Thor is all grown up. I've had two litters of beautiful snowy white pups since that "false pregnancy" episode. Ziggy never did come home, and Abby ( the other kitty ) passed away a year ago. No more yummy kitty food to raid. I still have to live with two silly ferrets. Weasel, the male ferret is ok. At least he repects me and leaves me alone when I tell him to. But the other one, her name is Baby Wee, is sooooo anoying! She will not listen to me at all! She is somehow under the impression that I LIKE being jumped on, having her play with/hanging off my tail, and enjoy having a ferret on my face while I'm napping! The humans love her, so the only thing I can do is bark my disgust and get up and move to the couch! Thor on the other hand, seems to LIKE playing with the little thing - he's so wierd sometimes. Mom ordered us each a fancy custom made leather collar and leash set! Mine is black leather with a pink leather lining and sparkly pink crystals and shiney silver studs - sooo pretty! Thor's is black leather with shiney silver studs. Dad doesn't know how expensive they were - he'd be REALLY MAD - so we won't tell him. Well, that's pretty much it for now. I'll try to keep up on this diary in the future. - Lily

The New Guy

There's a new pup in my world! His name is Thor. He's been living with me for about a week now. Mom and Dad where so worried that I'd eat him when they brought him home. But to their surprise, it was love at first sniff! We play and romp all over the house and back yard. I share my toys with him, even my beloved frisbees!! I had to save him from the cat the other day. For some reason he thought it would be fun to chase her, but she didn't. She was about to teach him a lesson, so I had to step in. I love the little guy.

Babies?

Well, I was supposed to have my second litter of pups in late December of '07. I had been mated with a handsome young stud with a very impressive pedigree. He didn't mind that I was white and he was black and tan. Anyway, all seemed to be going great. I was nearing my due date, had milk and was nesting. Mom said things didn't seem right because I would act like I was begining labor, then it would just stop a few hours later. This went on for three days. Mom and dad took me to the vet on Christmas eve. They took xrays of my tummy. To everyone's dismay, there were no puppies. The vet told us that I was having a false pregnancy! Mom and dad were disapointed, and I was just plain confused. Anyway, it's been a week and things are getting back to normal. We'll see what the future brings.

Ziggy, I miss you.

My little pal Ziggy didn't come home. It's been almost a month since my Ziggy vanished. His microchip didn't help, can't find him at any shelter. Where is Ziggy? I miss the way he always stopped to rub against me whenever he walked by, I miss playfully chasing the little furball, I miss the way he napped right beside me, I miss barking at him when he thought he could eat out of my bowl, I miss the way he never cared that I was a dog, I miss Ziggy.
