Happy Birthday!

Dear Diary!

It's my third birthday, today!! It feels like any other day, but everyday, I feel special! I get to snuggle with momma and pappy on the couch. I get to sleep in the room with them. I have my own bed, but I like it better that way. I get tons of hugs and kisses from momma. I get to play with pappy all the time. I get walks every day and I get to sniff grasses and bushes. Momma always looks pleasantly surprised at how cute I am. She gets me all kinds of chewy treats and lets me have a bunch at a time. I have so many toys, my toy basket is overflowing. I got two sets of the greatest grandpawrents any pup could ever desire. All three luv me in their way. I used to have the greatest great grandma that I called A-mah. She thought I was the best behaved dog in the world. I miss her greatly and I just learned that our birthday is only two days apart. :)) I am also loved by all the other family and friends who have known me. I couldn't have asked for a better pack.

I am on the couch snuggled between momma and pappy watching TV. My butt is touching momma's. Sometimes, I snuggle really, really close to pappy, though.

I know mommy feels really guilty that she hasn't done anything for me this year, but I understand. She's had a lot on her mind lately. With pappy having surgery and then, not feeling well, she's had to deal with a few extra things. I don't mind because pappy has been home with me all day long. We just nap together. It's just great. I love having my family home.

Momma says that I am a great doggie and she is always making sure that I know she loves me. Pappy acts like I haven't gotten to his heart, but I know I've got his soft side. For that, I feel I am a lucky puppy.

Holidays

Uffff... Finally the Holidays are over! We had a very busy season! Never seen such commotion before. We spent Thanksgiving at my momma's mom's house. Momma cooked two turkeys. She snuck a couple of pieces for me after they were done eating. Yummmm...

I got to hang out with momma and her cousin, Auntie Melissa. I love her. She invited me to go out with them a Friday night. We went to this really loud place where they ate dinner and I got yummy treats that momma brought for me. Then, we went shoe shopping. I mean, momma and auntie went shoe shopping. I got all kinds of attention. People were stopping momma to ask about me.

A couple of days later, momma, pappy and I dropped her off at the airport. She came to stay with momma Grandma, who we call Amah! Apparently, she had a surgery and she has been healing from her ouchies. After the airport, we went to visit another cousin of momma, Uncle Kelvin. We ended up meeting up with Uncle Charlie, his wife Auntie Michelle and this adorable little two legged girl Sofia. We hung out in Santa Monica and I got plenty of attention. Uncle Charlie was amuzed by my ability to get attention from strangers. BOL!

Pappy hung out with me for a week. Then, for X-mas, we went to Prescott, AZ to hang out with my other set of granpawrents. Boy, it was cold. It even rained when we arrived. It was so cold that momma didn't want ot take me out. I had to go really badly, so I went in the living room, right by the tree. Shhhhh... Grandpop still doesn't know... At least, I don't think he know... He hasn't banned me from the house, yet. My poor momma had to clean that spot... twice... ugh... I had a tummyache... Next day, momma gave me canned pumpkin and issue was resolved. I got to snuggle by momma the whole weekend. I loved it! We also walked around the house. I got to be off leash... It was so much fun!!! We finally had to go back home.

Momma had to work for a few days. Then, we spent New Year's Eve at her friend, Auntie Tessa's house. I had to hang out with this really fun, but bratty girl named Kona. We got our pawrents all confused with our names. I kept thinking that Kona's dad was calling me. I listened to every comand that he gave me, but he kept looking at Kona. Go figure... humans.... weird... Kona and I got to play until we both got tired and we snuggled with our moms. The dads were acting weird. One, mine, was hitting these plates with a stick while looking at the TV. Kona's dad was holding this interesting shaped toy and he kept moving his fingers in different directions while looking at the TV. The TV had this really weird show with two lanes of colorful blocks and playing really loud music. They kept saying something about Rock Band... whatever it was, it made us go home really late.

Then, with almost no sleep for me and momma, we left in the morning to my Auntie Bei's home. I got to visit with my cousins Ricey & Leche. R&L didn't want anything to do with me. Auntie Bei said that L was out of her element with me there. Momma and Auntie Bei were dressed in cardinal and yellow. They said something about going to a Rose Bowl... Must be some sort of food stuff with roses in a bowl. I never knew momma and Auntie Bei liked to eat roses. They were very excited. They even dressed me, R & L with a red shirt that says SC Trojans. Don't even get me started with Trojans... Well, it was cool. Momma & Auntie Bei were surprise and preplexed. They got home and the gate was on the floor. Ricey and I got the run of the house. Leche stayed in the kitchen because she was afraid to step over the gate. I ain't talkin' about what happened. I know R & L won't talk either. We agreed to take this secret to our graves.

Now, momma is off for the next week and I get her all for myself, like always!

Just for Fun

I just felt like writing a entry of one of my regular days, just for sake of remembering it. Momma is in the computer and I'm napping inside one of my many crates. We start our evening with momma coming home and taking me out for a quick potty. Then, she prepares her food and mine. Lately, she has been heating up a spoonful of canned food for 10 seconds, then adding 1/4 cup of kibble (one of the 10 types), a spoonful of cottage cheese and a squirt of salmon oil. We both chow down our individual dinners. I go back to my bowl and lick until it's sparkling clean. Momma always looks so proud. She always looks at me and says, "Wow, Kuma, wow!" I usually look back at her and wags my little tail and tilt my head with my floppy ears with water dripping down my beard. Momma always laughs and then she brings out a towel and wipes my face dry. Then, we just hang out for the rest of the evening. It's usually a very quiet night until pappy comes home and turns on the TV. Then, we have the noises from the TV. I get on the couch for a little while, then, I go to my crate. I also get a lot of nice scratchies and back rubs. I love being in between them. I love squeezing by pappy and then getting momma's dirty looks because she thinks I was supposed to be by her. Hahaha... they are so funny. I love when they fight over me. ;> Anyhow, life is good with this family. My bedtime routine is my favorite. I get to run to my crate in the end of the hall. I wait anxiously for my yummilicious treat. Then, I just crash with momma.

I've got a good life. I have no complains.

Busy Week!

Last Friday, mommy and daddy took the day off. We drove and drove. I thought we were visiting my grandpaw and grandmaw, but we ended up in another house that I knew!!! I went to visit my relatives. I mean, blood relatives and the lady, who was my foster mommy for a couple of months, before I moved in with my mommy and daddy. To make things even better, there was another lady that looked really familiar. I had a vague memory of her. She was so sweet and she seemed to know me so well. My mommy told me that she was my very first human mommy. Mommy told me that she put a lot of work to get me to become the good doggy that I am. I got to play with the gang. Well, they sort of ignored me. I followed them around. I barked when they barked. I ran when they ran. Well, not sure about all the comotion, but it was fun!

Then, this week, daddy left us to go on business trip. Mommy came home during lunch. It was nice to see her. She would play with me after she ate. I have to say that at night it was a bit strange. I kept waiting for the noise from the floor and daddy to pop up the stairs, but no signs for two nights.

Tonight, I got a surprise! I heard the noise from the floor and daddy popped up! I licked and licked to make sure it was him. When he sat down on the couch, I sat on his foot, so he wouldn't move! Well, I couldn't sit still long enough, so now, I'm lying on his arm to make sure he doesn't leave anymore. Maybe, if I keep licking him, I'll get him to stay.

Corner Bakery

Momma took me to the Corner Bakery, again. I can't believe her. We set up tent like usual. Momma brougth out my mat and my bowls. She hooked me up with my breakie yum-yum and she got her yum-yum. I got a bit stressed out when momma had to go buy her yum-yum. Then, we sat next to a couple that brought their doggie Daisy, who looked like JRT. Adorable girl. Unfortunately for her, I got most of the attention. Probably because I got my mat and my bowls. Momma also brought out her anti-bacterial wipes for her hands before she started eating. BOL. I'm sure it was quite a scene. People were joking with momma that I was so spoiled. Momma was laughed back and explained that my mat was also serving as a boundary for me. BOL. I guess I am on lucky pup. On the way home, we stopped by a store called Planet Beauty for Momma to buy her and Pappa some shampoo. I guess I'm not the only victim of shampoo. I got to lay on the very cold floor. The ladies at the store loved me. I wagged my tail and they melted. I do have a way with women!!! BOL.

Now that we are home, it's time to nap and recover!!!

Yesterday

Momma took the day off work, so after she woke up, she took me for a nice long walk. We went all the way to Petsmart. She got me a bowl for my water on the road and then, we went to have breakfast. Momma had eggs with veggies and she shared it with me. Yummmm...

Then, we walked to Barnes & Noble. Everything was fine until, we went to check out and the lady told Momma that I couldn't go anymore because I was a health code violation since they had a cafe inside. Sigh... one less place for me to go. Well, that's alright... I didn't like it in there anyways. Too boring for me.

Last time we were in that Marketplace, we went to this very smelly place called Bed & Body Works. Momma bought all kinds of smelly things for her hand and pappy's hand. So much fun!!!!

Momma just fed me he last pieces of beef from her sandwich. Shhhh.... don't tell pappy... If pappy is reading this... I'm just making this up, so that I sound like I'm spoiled... ;>

2nd Birthday!!! (From Mommy)

Dear Kuma,
Of course, it's been almost a week since your birthday, but as you know, we had quite a busy week last week. So, this is your second birthday!! Wow!!! I hope you enjoyed your gifts and special meals. Sorry about not having any cupcakes, this year. Maybe next year...

I can't tell you how happy I am that you are growing up to become such a sweet, giving, fun pup!!! We had quite a year!! We lost our trainers because they moved away!! Then, we lost Barb. I miss her so much. She was the lady that took you in and allowed me to bring you home! Next week, I get to meet your very first mom. I am so excited! I will get to hear about your puppyhood in Louisiana. I can't wait to hear stories about you and your two sisters!!!

Kuma there are no words about how happy I am that you are with us and you are healthy and happy. When I see you look up at me or your pappy, I can see the devotion and loyalty in your eyes. Sometimes, I still can't believe that you're a part of our little family!! We are a family because of you, and I can't imagine it any other way!

Thank you so much for the year and a half that you've been with us. You have taught me to live in the moment. Whem I come home and look at you, you remind me to leave everything else behind and focus on you because you're in front of me. I cannot tell you how this little lesson has helped me during this year.

I still wanted to leave you this message here on your diary to let you know that I hope you had a good birthday and that I hope with all my heart that we have many more birthdays to come.

Slumber Party!!!! Yayyyy!!!

Momma went to a birthday party and came back with my two favorite cousins!! We hung out at night. We went for very nice walk. Momma wanted them to go potty, but they wouldn't go. We stayed out really late. I think my cousins had some problems going to sleep. They hated the crate, and momma forgot to take their collar out, so it kept making noises.

This morning, we went for another nice walk. It was so much fun!! We got to sniff around. I think Ricey & Leche got the hang of our routine. It seems like it's a bit different from their home routine. We all ate together, and now, we are all napping from the long hard walk.

First Quake

The floor was shaking today!! Wow, I never experienced that before. Nothing happened in the house, though. I just stayed put in my area. A little tiny picture frame fell down. When Momma came home to check on me, I showed her exactly where it fell. It fell almost in front of my "fun crate"!! I sniffed it to make sure it wasn't one of my toys.

Momma told me that she experienced some major shaking. She was on the 5th floor of a building. She said that she was so worried about me that she almost cried. She was so relieved when she saw that everything was normal in the house. She took me out to go potty, then, I went back to my little den area. She put my bed with my favorite teddy bears and a Kong for me. I think she was afraid it was going to start again, so she just wanted to make sure that I wasn't starving until she got home to me.

I am just so glad that she made it home and now we are hanging out together. She is typing and I'm napping right next to her. I want to make sure that I enjoy every moment I have with her. I think she feels the same way about me.
