Birthday: April 21st 2002 Likes: Snuggling with Mama! Pet-Peeves: Scarey things & places! Favorite Toy: Stuffed animals & sheepskin toys. Favorite Food: Home-cooked food! Favorite Walk: Wherever Mama goes as long as one of her siblings is along! Best Tricks: Missy loves to be petted and have belly rubs. If I quit rubbing her, she reaches out with her paw and pulls my hand back to do it some more! Arrival Story: Missy came to me thru rescue as a stray dog found on the street. I fostered Missy at first, and it didn't take long for me to fall in love! Missy is great with her senior sister, Kaycee, and with the kitties, too. She fits in perfectly with our family! Bio: Missy is very shy and scared of just about everything! She does NOT like loud noises or strange places and is scared of the groomer! Poor baby! But as long as Mama and one of her doggy siblings are near, she can handle most anything. I've heard that poms are "high strung", and I guess Missy fits that description, but that just makes her more special to me! I had a very scary day today & I scared Mama & Aunt Marcia the groomer half to death! Aunt Marcia had come by to give us all our monthly baths, and she started with me. She was combing me out to get ready for my bath, and turned her back for a minute. I'm famous for getting the heck out of there any chance I get, and this time was no different. I immediately took advantage of Aunt Marcia's inattention & jumped off the couch.
I hit the floor pretty hard, and started to limp around. Mama & Aunt Marcia were watching me walk to see how badly I'd hurt my leg (that's what they thought happened) & all of a sudden I couldn't walk or keep my balance at all! When they picked me up, they noticed that my eyes were "funny" - kinda unfocused - and my tongue was purple!
Of course, this happened right in the middle of the vet's lunch break, so they had to wait for 2 hours to take me in! I recovered & was able to walk normally, my eyes looked better & my tongue went back to normal soon after all this happened.
When I got to the vet's Doc told Mama I have a bad heart & he thought a combination of the heat (it was 105 today!), the grooming & the fall/jump from the couch caused me to have an episode with my heart. I'm now on daily heart meds & Mama's hoping this will be the last of that kind of scare we have for awhile.
I could sure use your prayers that the heart meds help & I don't have anymore scary days for awhile! Thanks!
Today I had to go to the vet to get a dental done. My teeth have gotten pretty bad, and Mama & Doc decided I needed them cleaned and maybe some pulled, too! As it turned out, I did need several pulled. I'm sure not feeling my best today, but Mama says I'll feel better than I have in awhile tomorrow!
Hi everypup! Our foster-pom sister Miss Wiggles has gone to her forever home and we all thought her story should be told, so I'm gonna tell it here in my journal.
Miss Wiggles came to stay with us on St. Patrick's Day, when a lady called our Mama and said she had just moved to Mesa and into a mobilehome park where no dogs were allowed. She said she felt really bad, because she'd had Wiggles her whole life (15 months), but she just couldn't keep her.
On Tuesday, March 18th, Mama called the lady's vet to verify that Wiggles was up to date on her shots. That evening, she got a call from a man in another state who said he was Wiggles' daddy and she had been taken from
him by his ex-wife after she had been gone from Wiggles' life for 6 whole months - half of her life! He said that he missed Wiggles terribly and wanted her back, and he didn't know that her mommy had given her to a shelter until Wiggles' vet called & told him after she talked to Mama.
After CAREFULLY checking out the man's claims, Mama & a committee of rescuers decided that since Wiggles had a home to go to where she was loved and missed, she should be with her daddy. The committee decided that Wiggles' daddy could adopt her and she'd be his forever. And Mama found out she has a kitty brother who missed her terribly, too!
SO on Easter Sunday, Mama & her friend Cathy took Wiggles to the big airport in Phoenix, and her daddy flew in and adopted her, and took her back home! What a wonderful Easter for Mama AND for Wiggles! And Wiggles' daddy & kitty brother were SO happy to have her home again!
We're glad that Wiggles has a happy forever home, and it even turned out to be one where she knew everyone! And Mama got a special blessing on Easter, too!
