Arrival Story:
I got her at 9 weeks old from the local shelter. She and 2 of her brothers were in the cage looking out at me and I just had to have her. Right away they told me she was part Basset and will be longer and shorter to the ground than other dogs her size. In other words" she might look funny". I fell instantly in love with her she was so small and so soft. She has been my faithful companion for 14 years now with narry a health problem in sight. God love her.
Update: Sept 14th 2009, I had to put my little girl down. She was apparently suffering from a brain tumor. She lost her balance couldn't walk, was barely eating or drinking. It came on suddenly, from the day she first got sick to the day I lost her was only 6 days. So the one thing I can be thankful for is she didn't suffer a long agonizing death. It was the most painful thing I've ever had to do, to choose to say goodbye, but I was with her til the end. I couldn't bare that she would go and not have me there as some kind of comfort. I will miss her terribly. She was my first little girl, I had her my whole adult life and she was my constant companion. Bye little girl, rest in peace.
