I wonder if dogs can have cell phones. Then again, I don't have thumbs..but I'm not sure who I could call anyhow.

I'm just a dog.

But my mommy says I'm the best doggie in the world, so I guess I don't need thumbs or a cell phone.

Goin Off the Leash

I'm not one of those dogs that can be trusted off leash. I Luuuuuuuuv to run, and run far..so my mommy tends to keep me close. She did get one of those extend-o leashes that goes out 25ft, but for me, I need like 250ft!
Today though, she let me outside without a leash..I think if I stay close (she did have a baggie of most excellent scooby snacks...) she will let me run & play. She worries that I'll go after the neighbors cat or the squirrels that are always snooping around. I'm a good doggie. I really want to go up north though, she just puts the leash in the car for 2 days, and lets me go root around the forest. I've chased almost every chipmunk in a mile radius! I can dig holes, run all over and nap in the sun on the grass. Ahhh the life of a carefree dog.

Turkey Day

So mom took me to grandma's for Thanksgiving...and I got to eat gooooood :)

I usually get the guts of the bird, but grandma didn't get a whole bird this year. Just the turkey breast, but Dan-Dan cut off the skin for me, and even gave me some of the meat.

Mom gave me a great brushing, and it felt great, but she found.....fleas. I'm not a happy dog- Where did I get these fleas? I'm an indoor doggie! I don't have a (bleech) cat around, and mom & dan are good about not being around animals that have fleas. So..I guess it's a trip to Dr Joe for me. I need my shots anyhow.

Yule is coming up, and mom's headed to California to see uncle dk in Los Angeles. I'm hoping mom brings me back some designer dog treats. Or maybe one of those little doggies, I want a friend. Seeing as mom won't let me have a snake. :( I love those snakes!!!

Dog School

Mom started school last week, but lost her job. :(

She's depressed but I'm here to take care of her, we have fun when Dan's at work. Mostly she plays Guitar Hero and I chew on my Piggy Rope. Makes for good days.

I'm wanting to go to school, but not sure where a good school is for older doggies. I'm a bit on the agressive side towards people other than my family, and that really needs to get taken care of. I have to be put in the bedroom when we have company, cause I might cause a scene..and I've been known to pee on the couch. (not good)

I know Pet Smart has a class, it seems good but I'm not sure it would be good for me cause I'm kinda not good with other people. Anyone know somewhere else that would be good?

Possible New Friend!

So mom's been talking about getting me a "friend". I think she wants (gulp) a cat. Now, I'm a loving ol pooch, I grew up with Yegor the Lazy and Binky the Terrible. (Mom misses them, they have passed on) She's all gaga over this Siamese...cause she says they talk. I say get another big ol fat cat like Yegor, who just laid around and pretty much did alot of nothing. Yeah, they are cute & cuddly..but I'm the MURPHY DOG! I'm the cutest thing next to that Cheshire kitty on top of the tv stand. HA! That's the best cat, doesn't bother me a bit, and it doesn't smell!!

I'm still unsure about all this. Cats & Dogs living together? Whats next? Free Scooby Snacks at PetSmart? (praying to the great Scooby-Doo for that one)

I have to go in for my shots. That means I get to go see Dr Joe. He's usually pretty nice, gives me treats & stuff. That thermometer thing..I can do without. I know I've got fleas..and they are giving me yucky skin..it all flakes off when I get a brushing. (If I keep away from the bathroom, mom can't sneak me in for a bath..hehe I'm sneeeeeky)
Mom says she'll take me to PetSmart afterwords, I think I can schmooze her into that bottomless bag of pig ears. I wonder if she can get Piggy Rope in bulk? I love that stuff.

Grandma wants to get a dog, I'm hoping it's a dog my size so we can play around. I'm thinking she's going for the smaller breeds though. I'd go for a little weiner dog, a Dachund (I can't spell it) call him Bratwurst! haha!

Anyhow, I'm just sitting here on the couch, on my big ol pillow (I am SO pampered) watching Animal Planet. Sooner or later a show about snakes or lizards will come on. I wish mom would get me a snake, I don't want a cat!

*as a side not, Murphy really does watch Animal Planet shows with snakes, he's riveted to the tv..it's quite entertaining.*

Well I'm guessin' it's about time to go, I hear Caesar barkin' next door... something about wishing this dang cold wind & weather would go away...

Hail, Snoopy! Beagle wins Westminster Dog Show!!!

Oh I'm so proud!!!
I may only be part beagle, but that part of me is just geeked as all get out to see a beagle win this show.
Too bad they don't have a mutt entrance..I'd take that at least to 13th place! Anyhow, this is the story from Yahoo! news. ENJOY!

Start dancin', Snoopy. You're out of the Westminster doghouse. At long last, a beagle is America's top dog. Baying and barking to his heart's delight, Uno lived up every bit to his name Tuesday night, becoming the first of his breed to win best in show at the nation's biggest canine competition.

"He's a people's dog, a merry little hound," handler Aaron Wilkerson said.

A sold-out crowd at Madison Square Garden that called and chanted Uno's name stood and roared when he was picked as numero uno. He got right into the act, jumping on Wilkerson and confirming his other title: noisiest in show.

Years from now, it'll be known as the "ah-roo!" heard 'round the ring.

The only breed consistently among the nation's most popular dogs for nearly 100 years, a beagle had never won in the 100 times the Westminster Kennel Club had chosen a winner. That changed when judge J. Donald Jones pointed to this nearly 3-year-old package of personality.

No longer an underdog — make that an Underdog — Uno beat out two neatly primped poodles, a top Sealyham terrier, a sleek Weimaraner, a lively Australian shepherd and a sprightly Akita.

"He's perfect, he was a 10," Jones said. "He does cuteness well."

Precocious as he was precious, Uno celebrated by chewing on the microphones of reporters who tried to interview his winning crew. Those had to suffice for the yellow, soft duck that's his favorite toy.

His tri-colored image certainly drew a nationwide following, and that will surely prompt a spike in beagle adoptions. Wilkerson had one bit of advice for anyone planning to get one as a pet.

"Better have a fence," he said.

More than 169 breeds and varieties were represented at the 132nd Westminster show, and the event brought 2,627 entries.

Among the fan favorites early Tuesday evening were a Neapolitan mastiff that lumbered around the ring, a Chihuahua that spun in circles and a miniature pinscher that plucked a piece of food off the green carpet without missing a beat.

No hound of any kind had won at Westminster since 1983, and a toy poodle that began the night with 108 best in show prizes stood in Uno's way.

Formally known as K-Run's Park Me in First, Uno came into this competition wagging his white-tipped tail with 32 best in show ribbons overall. He already had become the first beagle to win the hound group since 1939.

Uno breezed in the 15-inch beagle category Monday morning, then took the group several hours later. So while other dogs tried to reach the final ring Tuesday, Uno went on a brisk walk around Manhattan and took a nap beneath his warm, fuzzy blanket.

But when it came time to show, Uno was as ready as ever. He looked around and soaked up the cheers while parading around the ring, the ovation becoming more thunderous with every step.

When he made his final stop in front of Jones, Uno went to town. Rather than rely on his golden brown, pleading eyes, he began baying over and over.

Even when he walked away to let other dogs be judged, Uno kept going. Quite a win it was for Eddie Dziuk of Columbia, Mo., and his three co-owners.

"When it came for the judge to pick, I couldn't even watch," Dziuk said.

Chances are, millions at home were tuned to their televisions.

"My sister called me today and said she's always turned off the dog show on TV because she's tired of all those poodles winning," Jon Woodring, one of Uno's co-owners, said in the afternoon. "But she watched last night. I think Uno winning would show that an everyday dog can do it."

Longtime dog expert David Frei, the paw-by-paw announcer for USA Network's coverage of Westminster, went even further earlier.

"If he wins best in show, I'll rent him an apartment in New York City because I'll be traveling with him all year, so many people will want to see him," he said. "If he won, it would be the greatest thing for our show."

Better get that first rent check ready — Uno is here to stay.

"We knew he was going to be No. 1. I didn't know he'd do it this fast," Wilkerson said.

Subject: Ohio: owner surrender - 9 two day old pups covered in maggots inside & out OMG



Owner called me this morning and said her 9 y.o. Lab died this morning after giving birth to 9 pups 2 days ago. NOT SPAYED - RUNNING FREE ON A FARM ! The owner pulled the pups out of the "dog house" only to find them covered in maggots. She could not deal with it because she had to "work". I took the pups which is my 4th. litter of pups in the past month.... ( one litter only 6 hr. old ). What I saw made me vomit.. cry and pray to God to give me strength to do what I had to do now

The pups were wet and cold in a dirty old laundry basket with a filthy rag to lay on. The pups had literally hundreds of maggot larva covering their entire bodies.













They are Black Labs so I could see it very clearly

I pulled each one out and gave their little cold bodies a bath... and I could see the mature maggots in their umbilical opening! ( belly button ). I had to take a pair of hemastats with a blunt end and remove as many as 20 maggots from each of their stomachs. ONE BY ONE my kitchen sink filled with paper towels and live mature maggots. I fed the babies , bathed them and started them on Clavamox antibiotics. They are resting on 2 heated discs .... The vet said I have to give them another bath in 50 / 50 solution of flea shampoo to get the rest of the maggots out. Now I have to start the process of pulling mature maggots out of their belly buttons again... I only stopped long enough to clear the tears from my eyes.... I need to again purchase more formula for the various stages of puppies, chux diapers, antibiotics, antibiotic ointment , wormer vaccinations. They are going to the vet now that the initial and immediate medical care and antibiotics has been started. I do not know if they will live but I am trying my best here in a very bad situation.... and you know what the lady said as she left the laundry basket of pups.... ADOPTABLE DOGS



Wally is a Dachshund/terrier mix who's starting to gray a little, not sure how old he is, but at least 5 years old. He is very sweet.











He was picked up by the warden because his previous owners let him run the neighborhood and he'd chase bikes

They had been warned several times, but couldn't be bothered to come get him from the pound!




Mac is still a puppy!



Sassy is a very young, medium sized dog



Peaches is a Great Dane Mix.











She can not go to a home with cats or other small animals



Chris is so sweet and has been in there forever! Chris is about 25 lbs and all ears!

These are all very sweet natured dogs and the pound is very full right now, so please consider adopting and saving a life!
