Arrival Story:
after my person's sister got a pit puppy named dillon, my person was eagerly awaiting the opportunity to rescue a pit of her own. while walking in union square with her mom and dillon and her friend (Tess's mom--see pals), she saw me and 3 of my brothers and sisters in a box with a lady who was selling us. my person put down some money with the understanding that she would take me to her family veterinarian to have him check me out and make sure that i was healthy and had a good temperament. but when i met dillon at the house, i started fighting with him. i was just playing, but the people didn't know that and worried that i would be aggressive. so they took me in the car, back to brooklyn where i was born to return me. my person and her mom were crying and crying as they put me in the arms of my parents' owner. they drove away while they were still crying. but then 10 minutes later, they came back! they said they couldn't leave me knowing that there was a possibility that i'd be sold to someone who wanted to fight me. they had scraped together the rest of the money they needed to buy me from their wallets and the change in the car seat cusions. i was promised that i would go to obedience training and that i would be socialized responsibly so that any temperament issues i might have could be worked out. that's when i showed them that my "fighting" with, my now brother, dillon was only play. we love each other very much and sleep together at the end of the day when we're too tired to play anymore. i love my people. thank goodness they came back for me.

After quite an eventful summer, during which I learned to swim (love it!), stayed at a kennel for a week while mom was on vacation, visited my brother in Pennsylvania, and had all sorts of fun, I've moved apartments. I don't live ni Gramercy anymore. Mom says we live in the "financial district." Now we live in a huge building. It has 25 floors and 5 elevators. The lobby has doormen who say hi to me every time I pass by and marble floors and walls. I'm getting used to the apartment. It's bigger than the old one and is cleaner and lighter. There are lots of windows and I can actually sit on the bed and look out one of them! There is a long hallway from the front door to the living room that I like to launch myself from. The other day I cleared the futon by running down the hall and flying over the back of it. My people were impressed.

The neighborhood is very different. The buildings are really big and the smells are different. I'm distracted every time I go out to go to the bathroom. There are new dogs as well. I'm kind of grumpy meeting them which I know upsets mom. I should try to be nicer. We're close to the water. Mom and I have been running along the East River. It smells salty. I think I'm going to like it.

I'm at my mom's mom's house since she went on vacation. Today I stole a stick of butter off the counter and ate the entire thing.

A new year

Wow. A lot has happened since I last wrote to you all. I went with my mom to Pennsylvania for the holidays. Since she wasn't with her sister and mom over Chanukah, we celebrated on December 23. I got so much new stuff! I got a kong treat ball, a soccer ball called the "K-9 Kicker," a new fleece jacket and shoes, a matching collar and leash by some designer named Nicole Miller, and two food bowls that sit in a metal stand on top of a placemat. I'm finally civilized.

I was having a lot of fun being home with Dillon, my mom and aunt and grandmother until last Tuesday when they took me to the vet really early in the morning. Then they left me there! Many hours later, I woke up and my stomach was hurting very bad. I looked down and had 3 stitches! Mom says I got spayed and that it's for my own good. I also had a little pain in my shoulder where they, get this, put a MICROCHIP under my skin! How sadistic. I was not feeling well at all when they brought me home that night. But by the next day I was goingt to the bathroom and hobbling around. I got chicken and rice with chicken broth for a whole two days so maybe this "spaying" was worth it. While I still have my stitches for another week, I'm feeling 100% back to normal.
