Emergency Help Needed! IKE rescues incoming

September 14th 2008 6:46 am

The rescue that Mom works for Full Moon Farm is taking in wolf/dogs who's home's was destroyed by hurricane Ike. Please help if you can and say a prayer for them and their safe journey to Full Moon Farm.
Below is a message from Nancy Brown owner and President of Full Moon Farm.

Hurricane Ike devastated Orange/Bridge City, Texas, home to friends of mine, and supporters of FMF.

Jerry and Donna Mills evacuated with their 11 wolfdogs yesterday, to a safe place. The goats and dog dogs were relocated when Gustav came in, almost 2 weeks ago, to Animal Haven Of Texas.

The Mills homestead is underwater, and they have lost everything except what they took when they left yesterday, which was clothes for a couple of days, irreplaceable papers, and the dogs.

Full Moon Farm and myself value the friendship of Jerry and Donna, and consider them part of our "Pack". Since they are currently homeless, they will be travelling from TX to Black Mountain, leaving tomorrow, hauling a trailer with the 11 wolfdogs crated on it.

I am asking for safe travel prayers and for donations to help the Mills family through this tough time. 11 animals will add to our feed bill, and we have to buy posts for the containment. (Enough fencing is already on the ground for our RE-building of smaller, older pens.)

There are several options to send your donations.

Please: Mail a check to Full Moon Farm, Inc., P.O. Box 1374, Black Mountain, NC 28711-1374, or go to www.fullmoonfarm. org and click on the PayPal or Donations link. A 501 (c) (3) tax exempt organization.

FLA (Florida Lupine Association, of which FMF and Jerry Mills are members of), will accept hurricane donations, mark Jerry Mills. Anyone who could like to send any financial support, no matter the amount, and doesn't want to deal with PayPal, can send a check -- write Jerry Mills on the memo line -- to Florida Lupine Association at P.O. Box 1765, DeFuniak Springs FL 32465. FLA is a not-for-profit organization -- 501 (c3) and any and all donations are tax deducible. www.floridalupine. org

Thank you all so much for your support.

Hope to see you at the Silent Auction on the 25th, or at the last Howl-In of the season on October 11th.

Hugz and Howlz,

Nancy

Husky Found Naples FL in the Estates area

Hello Friends,
A beautiful Bi eyed Female Husky has been found in the Naples FL in the Estates area Here is the email Mom got.

We received a call today about this dog…unknown husky or WD…obviously, she's husky. Very pretty girl…I'm trying to find the owners. The off-duty deputies that found her were going to have to tie her out as their dog does not get along with other dogs (and DAS did not come out as requested) so she is very temporarily in my rehab crate while I try to find her owners. She doesn't look in bad shape and was hanging around G's eating there. No one had come looking for her. I'm not sure if she was maybe a victim of the fires? Huskies can travel far, so she could have come quite a distance. If anyone can help to find her owners or foster or adopt (if owners do not appear) it would be greatly appreciated. She is a sweet girl but would need an experienced home (no little kids moving fast - other dogs unknown yet). Sibe rescue is full but they are being contacted with this email and will help to cross post her. There are two other sibes here in DAS (I was told) if anyone knows another rescuer or group that might have room for one or two… we all seem to have the same problem. Please feel free to share this email. The dog is being called Crystal for the moment (for the song by Crystal Gale "make my brown eyes blue"). Blessings, dd
.

"Wolf is spoken here, Care Again raises Wolves & Spirits"

Dear Dogster Pals,
A while back you may remember I wrote a diary entry about a pack of wolves in Co. that needed our help.
We thought all was well and that the wolves were safe in thier new home.
The CareAgain Wolves still need our help so some of us here on Dogster have decided to step up and give the extra help that is needed.
Below is some info. Please visit the site and see the beautiful souls that we are trying to help.

"Wolf is spoken here, Care Again raises wolves & spirits"

Care Again is a non profit organization which raises wolves, performs wolf studies and in the past has offered outreach programs.

Zoning changes made it mandatory to relocate the wolves and time is running out due to lack of funding and helping hands. The wolves were moved to a pristine nature preserve backing into a national forest in Colorado. Presently volunteers are urgently needed to help finish building the fence to ensure the safety of the wolf pack. The materials are there with a single set of human hands trying to manage it alone, due to the weather and other duties like feeding and tending to the wolves, it has been nearly impossible to accomplish this important task.

People interested in volunteering near Woodland Park CO. may contact J. Harris at:719-748-3780
Please have the patience to leave your name and number to be reached TWICE as the answering machine is less than state of the art and the wolf guardian is often away tending to the wolves.
You may also contact Sasha at LenaMalikhusky@gmail.com with any further questions.

Donations of any amount towards this 501 non profit organization are welcomed and greatly appreciated.

Please join us at our new website! : http://careagain.net/

A box came today, but this box was different unlike all the boxes that Mom gets from the mailman this time of year this box was special and I knew it. This box was from the Husky that stole my heart it was from my Beautiful girl Lena Malik.

I stood beside Mom while she opened it, watching her every move letting out a little Husky Woo Woo every now and then.
What was inside this special box? Treats and toys and things that money just cant buy, inside that box was my special piece of Minnesota, pictures of my girl Lena Malik and a special one of her in a Beautiful frame. Wonderful smelling Pines cones from the Minnesota woods! Treats to share and a wolf book for Mom.
I let Kiera and Angel play with the squeaky balls but one toy was mine and only mine, it is a skunk which Mom has named Mr. Stinky. You see this toy is special because I have been told that Lena Malik has one just like it.

We have also gotten lots of wonderful Chirstmas cards from all our Pals at our group Husky Heaven. Mom is going to make us a Photo Album to put all the picture cards that our Friends have sent.
I fell so blessed and Thankful to have you all as freinds.

Thank You Lena Malik and Hu-Mom and all our friends at Husky Heaven for making our Christmas a special one, I only hope that one day we can Thank You in Person "Tails Of The Tundra Hike" "Hint, Hint"

Lots of Love and Husky Hugs to you all,
Bandit

For those not familiar with Congo's case:
1. two illegal immigrants were gardening at the family's house
2. they arrived an hour early
3. they were told by the husband to stay in their truck until he could
get out of the shower and get some clothes on
4. the husband speaks Spanish and spoke to them in Spanish so there is
no question they understand what they were told to do
5. they directly disobeyed the husband and walked into the backyard with
the wife, who had just pulled into the driveway)

7. the gardeners panicked

BEING LOST -- FROM A DOG'S PERSPECTIVE

The gate was left open
one bright sunny day
So I thought I would go,
explore, run, and play.

Seeing new things,
this is such fun!
But where do I go,
now that I’m done?

Was it back this way,
or maybe that
Where is my home?
I want to go back.

I have on my collar,
it’s red, white and blue
But, I don’t have my tags
to give someone a clue.

A man comes and gets me,
puts me in his truck
He’s taking me home,
Oh, what luck!

Wait a minute,
this isn’t my home
I’m stuck in a cage,
scared and alone.

People come see me,
so I wag my tail
I love the attention
I get in this jail.

The food is okay,
and the bed is too
But I really miss home,
yet what can I do?

I miss my yard,
my bed, and my ball
But, I miss my master
the most of all.

Where is my master?
It must have been weeks
I know he will come.
He really loves me.

Then someone takes me
down a long hall
I’m confused and uncertain,
I stare at the wall.

I feel a prick,
things start to go dark
I think of my master
and me in the park.

I’m going to sleep now
with him on my mind
Little do I know,
my fate has been signed.

I pray when I wake,
he will be there
Holding me close,
stroking my hair.

I’m sorry I strayed,
who knew the cost?
But it doesn’t have to happen
when dogs get lost.

WOLVES IN DESPERATE NEED OF HELP!!! ANYPUP CLOSE TO COLORADO- SPRINGS/WOODLAND PARK/CRIPPLE CREEK AREA????

September 29th 2007 7:21 am

I saw this over in Rainy's Diary. Is there anyone who can help? What about Mi'je's group?? Do you guys know anyone near this area???

"Dear Dogster pals and friends,
A dear pal of mom's is in desperate need of help. She has run a wolf sanctuary for a long time now. Due to problems with the neighbors, the recent poisioning & death of her precious pack leader, Willow, she is being forced to leave. She has somehow come up with a place to move the wolves where they will be safe, but first has to finish the fencing and get it approved. She has until Sept 30th to finish the fence! They will not give her an extension. She has dedicated her life to these beautiful creatures. She needs Volunteers desperately. This is a woman who is used to giving to others and has always been there to help anyone. If anyone knows anyone in Colorado who can help please let me know and I will give you her phone number. She lives west of Colorado Springs, Co. near Woodland Park area and is moving the wolves about a half hour west of there up by Cripple Creek. She is not asking for donations, only volunteers!

Even a local rescue organization will not help or can't, and it is the same with any group she contacts. She has nowhere to turn.
Mom talked to her tonight and we can't believe she has made it this far. Pure determination! Due to my own financial problems I cannot get down there to help her. She desperately needs help to finish the fence. If the wolves are not removed from the home they have known all their lives by Oct 16th, they will all be killed. She has 15 of these magnificent animals. Not to mention she needs 15 big crates to transport them to their new home. But her immediate problem is the fence. Inspectors will be there in a couple of days to approve or disapprove it. This weekend will make or break her. I cannot go into all the horrid details of what has taken place, it would take several pages. PLEASE, if anyone can help contact me at 605-390-1278 and I will give you her number. She has said this is ok with her and will take any help she can get. You can also reach me at mals4ever3@hotmail.com

Please keep J. and her pack in your prayers.
Thank you,
Rainy and MOM (Teresa)"
