Favorite Toy: Anything the other two have and she can steal. Favorite Food: Anything. Crikey, she's a Beagle! Favorite Walk: Anywhere that the family is Arrival Story: Baby was adopted from a local rescue organization and we have had her for nearly two years now. The people that signed her over to the rescue knew that she needed medical attention (bulging eye from glaucoma and a huge abdominal tumor) and they could not pay. The sad part was that the woman from the rescue told us that Baby and another dog named Bear were kept in a dark hallway in cages ! It is apparent Baby was caged - her poor feet were rubbed raw and the tendons were lacerated. Her eyes had developed Glaucoma but luckily, only one needed to be enucleated (surgically removed). She had also been bred repeatedly and had not been given proper care (who knows what happened to her pups) during her pregnancy and she suffered from a benign tumor (that was removed) and spinal injury that causes her to stagger and slightly drag her one hind foot (no, she does not have Addison's Disease, but foot/leg dragging can be a sign of it). Surprisingly, Baby can RUN just fine and she loves to every chance she gets, which is often! She was a timid soul for the first 6 months after we adopted her and we could not even get close to her or she would jump up and run away (we think all those years of abuse by her former "caregivers" (blah) really scarred her psychologically) but Baby has really come around now and is finally acting like a dog! It does our hearts good to see her so happy, healthy and trusting now. What a sweet dog. I've Been On Dogster Since:
