A TOTALLY KID friendly Chow!

I love going to the dog park. My Momma takes me every night as soon as she gets home from work. Last night, at the park, a family came in with their labordoodle. I love Willie, he's so silly. :) Anyways, two of the family members were 2 legged kids, a 7 year old boy and a 10 year old girl. When ever they see me they squeal with delight, run up to me, hug my head, scruff up my fur, lay on my back, all the sorts of things people tell you to NOT let kids do to Chows. I say RUBBISH! My Momma taught me good manners and I know the difference between little people and big people. I know that if I jump or bump into a little person I may knock them to the ground and hurt them. I love kids. They are so squeaky and they love to pay attention to me.
I know a few Chows who have bitten little kids because they kept poking their fingers in their ears. I don't understand why parents would allow their kids to tease a dog, any dog and if it were me I know I would run away from them and hide by my Momma. Why can't all dog parents teach their dogs to walk away?
Is this something that no one understands?
Well, I for one, love people and kids. :)

Dog Parks..

I don't know WHY my Momma did it but she thought we should go to the dog park this morning because it's usually empty. We get to the dog park and I almost leap out of the back of the Jeep because I'm so excited to run around and have fun. We walk up to the gate and there are two boys (about 13 years old) with a big black dog. They start to walk out of the park so my Momma keeps a good hold on my leash. Well, that big dog started to lunge towards me. The boys say that their dog isn't a good dog and the reason is that he was attacked by "a dog like that".. what EVER.. a DOG like ME??

My Momma says.. "Really, a Chow?" and the boys say yes. She started to tell them that she thinks they're mistaken because I'm the only Chow in this area but she didn't want to get into a P&ss&ng contest with two 13 year olds so she just let it go. Fine, I think.. GO I just want to have fun by myself anyways!

THEN.. A whole family comes in.. 3 kids under the age of 10, a Dad looking guy with a baby on his back and a little Chihuaha kind of dog. He asks if I was friendly and my Momma says ya, so they come in. First thing the kids do is start to shoot these little plastic discs from a plastic gun. My Momma tells them that she doesn't think that's a good idea because I will eat them. They stop. :) THEN this one little boy had this weird toy in his hand that had wheels on it. He kept trying to pet my head with the toy in his hand. OH BROTHER!! My Momma said "I wouldn't do that".. Then the Dad looking guy asks if he can LEAVE his little dog in the park while THEY play on the grass. My Momma says NO. Hahaha..

Ok, we only stay a little while longer then leave. phrew, I was tired.

BEHAVIORAL School

I just wanted to let you know how much fun I think behavioral class is. I get to meet a lot of other dogs and they seem really nice. They are ALL smaller then me and some of them are way younger but I behave myself and they don't bother me either. There is one dog that is 2 years old and she comes just to socialize. Her Mom doesn't EVER take her to dog parks! How sad is that! Well, the reason is that she only weighs 8 pounds and her Mom is afraid for her safety. So, I guess I understand.
Well, the reason I'm going to this class is so that I can go to the next step and get my CGC certificate. CGC stands for Canine Good Citizen. If I have that certificate I get a vest and a patch. It will be like my free ticket to go anywhere. Do you know what it would be like to be a Chow and be allowed to go places that people usually don't let us go? I think that would be awesome!

I HAD TO GO TO A BIRTHDAY PARTY

Well, today was my Momma's friends 26th birthday, boy is that old to me.. Ok, so I'm not even 11 months old yet, hmm... When I'm a year I will considered 7 in human years?? e freakin gad!! LOL..
Anyways, my Momma decided since my grandparents were out of town, she would take me to the party with her.
OMG, there was a LOT of little short people there! This one little 3 year old boy that just wouldn't leave me alone. Ok, so I was nice and I licked his face and his ears and let him hug me and pet me. This went on for AT LEAST 3 hours! OH, there was big people there too. And the Vet is stupid, I like guys! The only man I don't like is that guy AT the Vets! hahaha.. He should just leave me alone and I'll be fine. OH, I got off track..
Towards the end of the 4 hours, that little 3 year old decided to roll on the ground in front of me. For some reason that freaked me out a little!!! I crawled up behind my Momma's back and I was actually shaking a little!!! THANK GOD my Momma made that little boy stop! I didn't want to be mean or anything like that.
You all would have been very proud of me. I didn't growl or show my teeth or anything. I didn't even put my mouth ON anyone!! I licked them a lot and tried to get them to feed me their food BUT my mean 'ol Momma kept me on my leash and tethered me to her belt loop. Where ever she went, I went.
oh oh oh.. I forgot to tell you, she did let go of my leash ONCE. Of COURSE I had to follow her to see where she was going. I was afraid she was gonna leave me there with all those nut cases!! LOL
I didn't go potty while we were there either. By the time we actually got home I was literally doing the pee pee dance. I was so glad to get home and know I'm going to go to sleep. I'm exhausted from being good for so long.. *YAWN*.. nitey nite all.. I'l sleepy..

MAY DAY 2007

Today my Momma gave me my heartworm medicine, yummy, I love those things! THEN for some UNKNOWN reason she decided that I needed a flea treatment. Ok, so I DO live in an area where fleas, ticks and mosquitoes think they rule the earth, but, I've never had a flea so I'm not quite sure what my Momma was thinking.
HA HA HA.. I think my MOMMA is allergic to the medicine! She is itching like crazy! That'll teach her to put some smelly chemical on me.

Breed-Specific Legislation

because I was not a 'bad' dog.
Then they came for the pit bulls
and I did not speak out
because I was not a pit bull.
Then they came for the 'guardian' breeds
and I did not speak out
because I was not a 'guardian' breed.
And then they came for me.

It is not a secret that PETA wants to abolish ALL pet ownership.
It's also not a secret that people are ignorant.
It's also not a secret that people listen to the media, and the media is not very nice to us.
It's also not a secret that the general consensus is that you have to be the popular opinion of cute to be loved (no matter what species you are).
And it's also not a secret that people will classify any general group based upon their very specific dealings with limited specimens of that group.
Think of people, here. Race wars, segregation, hatred, terrorists, the list goes on and on and it would be easier to name off the derogatory terms we call other people to truly understand the extent of the humans' desire to squash everything that is considered a threat to them.

One person, one dog, one deed DOES NOT portray the mentality of the entire population.
