Likes:
Giving and receiving affection, toys, food, bully sticks! And her favorite commercial on tv is for Dyson vacuums. They make a squeaky sound to demonstrate that other brands are like toys. She loves it....she's a squeaky toy fan.

Pet-Peeves:
Bows in her hair. Being dressed in clothes. Of course, I want these things for my furry daughter.

Favorite Toy:
Her current favorite is a big furry slipper....not a toy at all, but it was so funny seeing her drag it around, I didn't stop her, and now she's sure it's hers.

Favorite Food:
Izzy is currently on an elimination diet because the vet thinks she's allergic (she's been so itchy) to something she's eating. So for the time being, she's eating a fish and sweet potato food and then we will reintroduce old foods slowly.

Favorite Walk:
Izzy believes any walk is a good walk.....but her favorite places are the Cary Dog Park and Bond Park.

Best Tricks:
She can stand on her hind legs for a really long time.

Arrival Story:
I'd been looking for a small dog for a long time. Then late one night, I clicked on the picture of a newborn female morkie named Tinkerbelle. Eight long weeks later.....Tinkerbelle arrived and became Isabelle....and a few minutes after that, she became Izzy. I believe it was fate that I found her. And I was never a strong believer in fate before she came along.

Bio:
The word that describes Izzy best is "happy." Both happy in her own right, and in her ability to bring happiness to those around her. Izzy is a sweet, affectionate, bundle of joy. She is also "all dog" and loves to run around and play hard. She has such a zest for life. She just dives right in to whatever's going on. She wants to play with every dog she sees and doesn't seem to know she's tiny......and we're not gonna tell her!

Elimination Diet

I was scratching like crazy---and it's not fleas. Mom asked the vet what to do and she said to try Benadryl. That helped somewhat, but I was still scratching, so the vet put me on some stronger meds and an elimination diet to try to figure out what was causing the problem. Until that time, I used to eat two or three different food brands, for variety, and also healthy human food, like lean meat and veggies. In fact, I got mostly raw veggies for treats. So now I'm eating Natural Balance fish and potato exclusively. Luckily, they also have treats and canned food made out of the same formula, so at least I'm getting some different textures. Mom was having quite a time trying to get the meds in me until she bought the canned food to make the Benadryl go down easier. Until then, she would try to stick the pill way back on my tongue and I'd manage to spit it out and give it back to her, sometimes hours later. "Ptooey, I believe this is yours!"

The hardest part for me was that I can't have any bully sticks till this is over....and they are my absolute favorite thing in the world. At first, my family thought I looked bummed out.....not a look they were accustomed to seeing from their happy girl. But I got over it and now we're just biding time until this gets resolved. Apparently, it can take 8-12 weeks for whatever the offending substance is to get out of my system.

Mom worried I would lose weight and I did lose four ounces at first, but now it's back. She could feel the bones in my spine...which freaked her out since I only weigh 6 pounds.

So why is this happening? Apparently, it could be a specific ingredient or it could be the way the protein is processed. It could even be seasonal allergies (but the vet believes it's food). I'll keep you posted.
Kisses,
Izzy

It's My Birthday!

It's My Special Day (yes, I know every day is my special day, but this one is EXTRA special). I've been serenaded with Happy Birthday (completely off tune but with such enthusiasm that I didn't mind a bit) and I've gotten a squeaky ball that I've been chasing all morning. I LOVE it. I played so hard with that that now I'm resting...but I keep "one eye open" so that when mom leaves the room, Woman's Best Friend will be close behind.
Kisses,
Izzy
