I was in a parade

This week our local dog park, Barkin Park, had a float in the annual parade in our town. Many of my pup pals were there to walk along with the float. I got to ride ON it. My human was supposed to work the cd player so the crowd could hear the dogs barking to jingle bells, but the technology gremlins took over and the cd had to play from the truck. It was pawesome to see the crowds from the float, just like riding in the back of the car.

Summer Time

I love the longer days of summer. The warmer weather and extended daylight usually means extra time at the dog park with my pup pals, or a bonus walk at a local park.
This summer I thought "expect the unexpected" only referred to some show my human watches. Turns out it has also applied to me.
A few days ago I stepped on a bee when leaving the dog park. Definitely unexpected. My pup pal's human lent a hand and we affirmed once again that our vet is PAWESOME; she returned our call after 8:00 p.m. to help to make sure I was not allergic. Two nights later, a raccoon thought he would grocery shop in our kitchen. Talk about unexpected. We are now learning all sorts of things to do so he and his family will seek 2:00 am snacks elsewhere. I do not like that the dog door is shut at night, but I also do not want critters eating my treats.
Hopefully the summer will hold some good surprises as well, starting with this week's field trip to a dog park we have not visited before.

Visiting family for the holidays, I got to go to another dog park this morning. We love visiting Five Cities Dog Park. There are familiar friends we see a few times a year. The park is part of a larger park which is good for bonus sniffs.

I got a present from my secret pal, all the way from Florida! We signed up last month in the Trading Dog Goodies group.
We have had lots of rain this week, so today I had the special treat of opening my package. It was wrapped so nicely, a bow and everything. I had to have a little help with the box. There were two treasures just for me tucked inside. I LOVE my new kong! I also got a new toy that will be perfect for tug-of-war with pup pals at the dog park.
Thanks Marley!!!

Nighttime Critters

Tonight, just as I was snoozin, I heard a noise and ZOOM...darted out the dog door. There were 4 raccoons on the fence. My human turned on the light and made me come back inside. I think they were out for dinner in the neighbor's garden. Must step up my patrol of the backyard. Can't have those critter's invading.

How exciting to learn that I am dog of the day! What an honor. I had surgery recently to remove a lipoma in my abdomen and have a fractured tooth removed, so this is a wonderful way to take my mind off of chewing those itchy stitches.
Thanks to everyfur for the kudos. Isn't Dogster a paw-some place to be?

We have a new off-leash dog park! Barkin Park opened today. There was a parade, a BBQ, contests, and of course the official opening of the park, complete with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Soooo much fun and so many new furry pals to meet.

"Every dog must have his day." - Jonathan Swift
I guess it must be my day today, because I have been named Schnauzer of the Week for the group,
Schnauzers Rule !!!
SR is where I have met other great schnacks like me as well as many other new pals.
What an honor. What more can a pup ask for?
Thanks for all the greetings and well wishes as well as those who have "left their mark" by signing my guest book. I am a lucky dog.

Jumpin' Through Hoops

My human watches too much tv. She saw some show on animal planet where the host showed how to teach a dog how to jump through a hoop. I did not think I needed to learn a new trick. Snoozin' in the sun and protecting the house from the mailperson takes up plenty of time, in my opinion. The next thing I know she returns from hunting, which she calls shopping, with something called a hoola hoop.
It does make interesting noises. I guess I do not mind it now that I have had a chance to check it out. The bonus is every time I go through the middle of it from one side to the other, I get a piece of my favorite jerky. It makes me think of when I went to agility class, without having to sit on the platform at the end. I guess all dogs can learn new tricks.
