Likes:
Getting brushed...hanging out with the kids...being Ash!

Pet-Peeves:
Not many, but Ash dislikes having his ears cleaned and his toenails trimmed. He also GREATLY dislikes the beeping of a cement truck, lol.

Favorite Toy:
A giant stick from the yard that he pulled off the bush himself.

Favorite Food:
No favorite foods persay, but he does get "goodies" from the kids (think all their leftovers they don't eat!) and LOVES pig ears! He also adores those mammoth bones, as does his son Abe!

Favorite Walk:
He doesn't usually take a walk as we live out in the country, but he loves hanging out with our other long coat German Shepherds in the yard or (amazingly enough) going to the vet because he LOVES getting attention from people.

Best Tricks:
His best trick isn't a trick, he is always a well-behaved gentleman :) Our neighbor was surprised when she saw that we could leave our delicious Thanksgiving dinner out without fear that our gentle giant, who can put his chin on the counter, would eat it.

Bio:
Ash sweet-tempered plush-long coat (long haired) German Shepherd Dog with a laidback temperament. Because of his appearance we are often asked if he is a purebred or if he is mixed with collie or some other long coated breed as people don't realize that YES! German Shepherds aren't always short coated. Another thing people assume is that because of his large size that Ash is a Shiloh Shepherd or King Shepherd. He is NOT a Shiloh Shepherd nor a King Shepherd, he is an AKC registered German Shepherd Dog. He is indirectly related to both breeds in that he does have dogs that trace to Shiloh Kennel and the foundation of the Shiloh Shepherd breed in his pedigree, but again he is NOT a Shiloh Shepherd or King Shepherd. Ash also has less angulation than most German Shepherds seen today, some consider him an "old style" or "old fashioned" German Shepherd because of it. Whatever Ash is called or considered, we love him and he’s our main man at Pioneer German Shepherds. He is an excellent companion and great with our small children, though sometimes he thinks he’s a 30 pound lapdog rather than the 120 pounds that he is! One more interesting thing about Ash is that he is a GREAT daddy to his puppies and will actually hop in the whelping box to help clean up their poop, he'll do everything but nurse them. Ash is definitely a once in a lifetime dog, we're hoping he passes his amazing temperament onto his children, and from what we've seen, he does :) To reiterate, we are NOT Shiloh Shepherd breeders nor King Shepherd breeders, merely large German Shepherd breeders of large German Shepherds such as Ash. Good boy Ash!
