Arrival Story:
We got Alby when he was about 2 years old not really sure of his actual age but the vet said he was about 2 due to his teeth. He had been to several homes and no one wanted to keep him because he is a runner, I dont mean a little jog I mean a sprinter that can run for hours! He was not trained properly so he did not know the come command. He thought it was great fun to make his owners chase him. The owners did not like this and decided that he was untrainable due to his age and were going to put him down. I could not see why someone would put such a nice loveable dog down just because he runs. So he came home with me and has been a wonderful addition to our family.

Bio:
Alby was diagnosed with Epilepsy in June of 2003. He has a series of cluster seizures (7 in 12 hours) so we took him to Rowley Medical Center in Springfield Mass. which is about 1.5 hours away from home. We were told that we had 3 options 1) let him "ride" it out and risk him dieing or having sever brain damage, 2) put him in a drug induced coma to break the cycle and control the seizures and would cost upward of $2000.00 or 3) put him down.....There was no way that I was going to put him down if there was help for him and he would be fine. I called my mom and she told me she would help me with the cost. They went ahead and put him in the coma for 24 hours and we picked him up 2 days later. He is on phenabarbatol and potassium bromine 2x a day. He hasnt had a seizure since that day!!! Although the monthly cost of his medication and the vet visits every six months to check his liver are costly I don't know of any better way to spend my money. He is my best friend and I am so glad that I am his Mommy. Sorry the pic is so bad its the only one I have. I promise to get another one A.S.A.P!
