Arrival Story: I got a call about Buck in '93 when he was 3. He'd been blinded by a pipe bomb when he was 7 months old. Now his owner told the Pound to put him to sleep - he 'kept getting lost'. They called me since I was a wildlife rehabber to see if I'd take him - oh, boy - would I! He lived with me and my other labs for 12 years - a happy, safe life always within feet of his family. One of my labs, Jack, adored him and was his 'seeing eye' dog. In May, Buck died in my arms and I buried him in a clearing on my property, next to the woods under a big beech tree. I'd left the other 2 labs in the house. So Jack knew he was gone but he didn't know where I'd taken him.
