Swimming in the lake... She sees water and like a bee to honey, she heads straight to it! (she must have been a labrador retreiver in a former life). Also, Feta LOVES having everyone's utmost and undivided attention paid upon her at all times.
Having to behave like the good girl she should be...
Hard rubber ball, or any old stick to play fetch with...including bringing "mom" those darned rocks that are bad bad BAD for her teeth!
Pizza crust, cheese
Tromping through the woods near our weekend getaway cabin
Singing! During weekly Saturday morning "snuggle sessions" laying in bed with "mom & dad" and she sings along with us (her "morning song") at the same time, having all four of her legs sticking straight up in the air (aka her "playdog centerfold" pose)
In 1995, after having Wiley for two years, we wanted to get him a friend to hang with (he was a little lonely), so we started looking and we found her through the local paper in the classifieds ads. When we got her, she was six months old, and she was soooo, sooo cute! And she was such a sweet heart, too. She had gorgeous, striking good looks...pretty red fur with the black accents -- she was (and still is) so beautiful! It was love at first sight for us. When we got her home, she wreaked of urine (I don't think she was well cared for), so first thing we did was give her a bath. During the first few weeks after rescuing her, it took a while for us to earn her trust... she was a bit scared and she submissively urinated (constantly) at any loud sound (ahh...poor girl)! But, after a few weeks of this, she finally realized that we were only going to love her, and that we would never, ever hurt her. Well, that was it...she came out of her shell and became the Royal GSD Princess that she was always meant to be. She loves any and all attention, she is very smart, lots of fun, and brings much joy to our home. Wiley and she were best friends until Wiley had to go to the Rainbow Bridge in April 2004.
Now we have a GSD named Raider, and his daughter, Rika. Raider is all grown up, now, but he is the black and tan puppy posing in the pictures here with Feta. Feta and Raider have become great pals, and they run and play all the whole day... Ohh...the life of a dog! "Me??...Oh, I'm not spoiled!" -- Feta
February 18, 2010, Feta, aka Little Girl, aka Punky (among other silly names) was her last day with us. She lived 16 long years with us and was loved and spoiled every day. I let her go to the rainbow bridge peacefully as she took her last breaths. I shed a few tears, but mostly I am glad for her (happy life), and not sad for me (losing her). So, with that, may she now rest in peace. She was a great dog!
