Arrival Story:
I met Saturday on March 24th, 2007, just as she was ambling across Kedzie Ave. and I was heading home from a quick trip to our neighborhood favorite, For Dog's Sake, for some treats. We were very fortunate to hook up with Chicago Canine Rescue, who generously offered to assist us in our search for a new home for Saturday and admitted her as a foster dog. Lucky girl that she is, she found a great new family with a backyard of her own and we couldn't be happier for her!!!!

Bio:
Saturday is the world's sweetest puppy! That being said, every puppy needs some schoolin' and we were thrilled with our experiences in a training class taught by Janice Triptow for reactive dogs. For more information on Janice and the dog training services she provides, please visit her website at www.dogbehaviorsolutions.net.

I just wanted to let everyone know that my mission has been accomplished and I'm a living, breathing, tail-wagging example of the success and happiness that comes with dog-rescue and adoption!!

I've found my very own home, with my very own people, and my very own backyard!!!!

Thanks for the encouragement and well-wishes!!! XOXOXOX Saturday (signing off)

Leaps and Bounds!

Well it's been a very busy couple of weeks, of course I don't really mind because "on the go" is alright by me!

I went in to the Anti-Cruelty Society's Vet Clinic last week for my spay surgery, and unfortunately had to miss my second class with Janice at Best Friends Windy City K-9 Club. I can't really tell you much about what a spay surgery involves, I slept through most of it. But I sure was tired when I got home last Wednesday.

But I can tell you that by Thursday afternoon I was even more tired of the doughnut collar and the uneventful walks! My foster mom kept trying to explain that I couldn't get out and rough house with Stu and Willa but I just don't get it, I feel like a million bucks!

So you can imagine how very, very excited I was last night when it was time to get in the car and go to class! WOOOOPEEE! And I did great :) Everybody said so! I learned a quick turn maneuver and to alternate between "sit" and "down" at lightning fast speed, and I even managed a "relaxed down" in front of all the other dogs! The ten frozen meat balls that my foster mom kept on hand didn't hurt either - I can't wait until next week! Love, Saturday

Hot Dog!

May 9th 2007 4:00 pm   [link to this entry]

Well summer is here and I'm ready for the bbq's!!! I really can't think of anything I like more than hanging out with all my new friends and, of course, being the center of attention! I can't help it, I won't even try :)

Even Willa has come to see just how wonderful I truly am and now we're like three little (think in comparison to elephants) peas in a pod. I still haven't quite figured out the game of "tug" but I'm loving my chew toys and I've discovered some very clever ways to sneak them away from Willa, a.k.a. the obsessive toy-hoarder.

I like to start with a slow circle around the room, I keep my eye on the bone, watching Willa watching me... I check on my foster mom's position (in her favorite chair) and then with a last glance at Willa, I gallop over to the chair, wiggling madly. This instantly plunges Willa into the throws of boxer-jealousy, and she cannot resist the temptation to investigate the reasons why someone else should be getting attention, and that's when I double back for the bone!!!!

Works every time!
