Why Didn't Someone Tell Me?!

So I have found the most fun thing in this doggie world. I have learned that truly, huskies were made to pull!!
I'd never tried sledding, but since my mom started volunteering with Tails of the Tundra Siberian Husky rescue, we've met some great people that got us interested. All the people in the rescue have other huskies! That's right, I have met so many great Sibes that I can't contain myself. I've got so many new friends.

So, these other huskies pull. They pull scooters and sleds. They all do it just for fun, if the dogs want to. No one has to do anything they don't want. So we traveled down to Pittsburgh to have a play day. There was no snow, so we tried the scooters. When I got into harness and my mom got on the scooter and said "Hike!", I started running and my mom started laughing and shouting and praising me and I ran and ran and ran some more! My mom said "whoa" and I stopped. I hadn't heard these words before, but I took to it right away. That was soooo much fun! We ran some more and then stopped so I could rest and have some water. Any time any of the other dogs ran, I squealed and complained because I wanted to go again! What a great weekend.

A couple of weeks ago, the rescue went to the Warren County Winterfest. There were probably a hundred Siberians there. Some were there with their parents that volunteered with the rescue, and some were there to compete in sledding races. There was woods, and snow and huskies! What more could a girl want? Well, this girl got more! My mom took out my new harness and I saw a small sled come out of one of the trailers. I get to pull?! In the snow?!How great is this?! I got hooked up with a couple of my other husky friends and we got to run and run and run some more! Some of my friends wanted to play after we had run for a bit, but I just wanted to keep going! This is my new favorite thing in the world.

I got to pull the sled again the following weekend at the Snowflake Festival at the Audubon Society. My cousin Yukon pulled with me. He liked it, but also wanted to play a bit more than I cared to...after all, I was pulling!!!

Mom got a scooter for me, now we just need a sled!
