Arrival Story: DooBug was bee-bopping down the middle of a busy, country road all by himself while I was driving by, on my way to the dump. He was minding his own business and his, hmm, b...s were almost dragging on the pavement..."road burn". The fleas were jumping six feet in the air off of him and he was covered in them. I stopped the vehicle and talked him in to riding with me cause it didn't seem like a such a good idea for him to be out here, on these back roads and "truckin" all by himself. He had never been to a barber so at that time, we had no idea what breed he was. He was rescued in order to find his family, which unfortunately, after much trying we were unable to do. DoBug was meant to be adopted out to a Doctor I knew, who had recently lost one of her beloved dogs. This promise I made to my husband when I dragged "Number Three" through the door. The "flea-bitten" little guy was duly taken to our veterinarian for a much needed bath and some flea control and also, his days of "flaunting" his doggy-hood were over that same day, when neuter surgery was done forthwith. Next stop...on to the "Pink Poodle Dog Salon" to see what we could see see see. Imagine this dog at a place called the friggin 'Pink Poodle!" "My God, it's a miniature schnauzer, whodaa guessed? " What a transformation, one that Doodlebug was unsure he especially liked. My husband had strongly protested at the thought of a third canine member of our family until we arrived at the intended adopter's door where he proclaimed, "But he is kinda cute". So began, many years of being a multi-dog family...three specifically. Little Dude has to get out of the way quickly when the mad rush, in answer to the call, "Who wants to go out?" is shouted, as the other dogs, much larger, tend to bowl the little fella over. Monkeydoodle rolls with the punches, so to speak, and does of course, not notice...don't all little dogs "think" they are big? Duddey fits right in.

Bio: We are not exactly sure how old Monkeydoodle really is, so when we got him the veterinarian estimated his age and his new birthdate was set as May 1, 1997. In September, 2006 Doodie was diagnosed with hypo-thyroidism and takes levothyroxin twice a day to balance his thyroid levels. In March 2007 Doodie was diagnosed with cancer. We are not going to proceed with chemotherapy so Doodie is on medications and is glued to my hip until the end. We are considering starting a daily diary. MonkeyDoodle lost his courageous battle with cancer today December 29, 2007. Today was the first day he experienced any pain an I ended it today - the most valuable gift I have ever given him and the most difficult to give. Rest in peace little dude -- I promised no pain. Love you so much.
