Best Tricks:
Before his eyesight went, he could balance a treat on the end of his nose, flip it in the air & catch it. He used to give me foot massages with his tongue as well.

Arrival Story:
Scampi belonged to my mother's neighbours. When their kids got old enough to start school, the mother went back to work and Scampi was left on his own during the day for the first time at age 13. He couldn't cope with it at all and barked, howled and whined constantly. It drove everyone so nuts that the original owners decided to have him put to sleep - fortunately my mother intervened and introduced him to me the day before the vet appointment, thus saving both our lives.

Scampi's ancestry was Border Collie, Labrador and Staffordshire Bull Terrier and he looked like all three - Staffie bull neck and barrel chest, delicate Collie muzzle, hypnotic Collie eyes and dainty little Collie paws, topped with a heavy Labrador double coat and otter tail. He also had the most beautifully marked paws I have ever seen in my life. Scampi was with me from age 13 till his death at age 17 on March 9th 2003. When my husband died in 1999 Scampi was the only reason I didn't let myself die too - he saw me through the worst time in my life and stayed with me until I'd overcome the worst of it.
