Yankee was a birthday present from my 5 year old daughter. At the time, only the name was decided. There were a couple of breeders my wife and daughter were looking at so I got to look at the pics of the moms and dads and decide which litter I wanted.
We found one but the puppies weren't going to be born for a few months (which was fine with me... we were in the process of moving to a new house). But my wife and daugher were anxious to get one so they found a local breader. She had one puppy left (Yankee). So, we all got in the car and headed north (I let my wife provide the directions). After about 3 hours in the car, when we thought we were getting close, I checked the map only to realize we should have been heading south for 3 hours.
We turned the car around and began the long journey south.
When we finally got to the breeder, we met Yankee and my daughter fell in love with him. So, we hung out a while and when it was time to leave, we brought in the crate we had. Only problem was, the crate was already too small. I had expected a small puppy but Yankee was already pretty big at 8 weeks. Luckily the breeder had an extra crate so we brought Yankee home with us that day.
