Arrival Story:
Alex was found roaming the local hills in the bay area. He was starving for food and love. Unfortunately, his previous owner had neglected him very badly. The Humane Society picked him up about 6 weeks after he was originally found roaming. They tried adopting him but were unable to convince anyone or GSD Rescue to take him because he was only 60 pounds and was missing 60% or more of his fur. GSD Rescue decided not to take him because he seemed very depressed. Then, another local rescue group saw him and knew he was a prize. They worked with the Humane Society to rescue him. Unfortunately, somehow he ended up in the euthanasia room when the rescue group called to rescue him. The Humane Society pulled him out of the room and he avoided meeting his doomed fate. The rescue group and local vet tech worked hard to get him healthy and back to a respectable weight. The Rescue group was showing animals and we asked if they had a GSD that needed a home. Just our luck, they did. It was love at first sight! We took him home and have never looked back. Hard to believe he's been with us since December 1998. He is the best dog we could have ever asked for. He is more affectionate than I ever dreamed. He's now estimated to be about 10 years old and as healthy as a horse, even our vet who saw him through the hard times can't believe how healthy he is at this age. It must be all of the love and treats he has gotten throughout the years.

You've probably wondered why Mom doesn't post more pictures of me and my "luv" Cassie. It's not her fault! Basically, it's because we aren't as good as Zeus and Zach. Everytime we are looking cute, and Mom brings out the camera we move! We have a hard time sitting still when the camera comes out...guess we're a bit camera shy =)) Please don't tell Cassie this, but I'm starting to really like Zach and Zeus =))
Sadly, Alex passed away from old age on December 19th 2009. There is a hole in our family that can not be resplaced. I hope he's enjoying the rainbow bridge.
