Arrival Story: I was working at a grocery store and answered the phone from a police dispatcher.
Dispatcher: "We just received a call from your pay phone with a lady saying she found two dogs running in the street in front of your store. Just need to verify if there are two dogs there."
Myself: "Let me check. Hold on"
Sure enough there were two dirty, wet, scared puppies out front. I return to the phone.
Me: "Yes, they are here."
Dispatcher: "Can you watch them for now? All of our available officers are in a meeting."
Me: "Sure, no problem." Thinking, wow, I hope there is no emergency.
I get some dog food / water and a large watermelon carton to put the puppies in. I become their protecter as customers are coming to gawk and pet them. The female (my dog) hides behind my back scared of all of the people. The male is just bouncing around and very friendly and all of the onlookers all declare, I would take that one -- the male. A short man walks up and states, "I'll take the male." I ask if he has a yard and will be sure to take good care of him. He replies, "Absolutely!" As the man takes the male dog away, two officers walk up. I ask them what they are going to do with the female and they said they would take it to the animal shelter. I say no, I will take her home and sorry for wasting their time. They are happy she is getting a home. I take her home to my house that doesn't allow dogs. My roommate instantly says no, but an hour later--my roomate loves her just as much as myself and I keep her. Six months later I lose my $300 dollar deposit.
It was fate...she chose me!
