Arrival Story:
Annie came from the local shelter as a six month old stray with Demodectic mange. After her spay, she had a reaction to her stitches and an additional abscess. Her first few months with us were spent recovering from her surgeries. She was listed at the shelter as a Lab mix, but turns out to be a Basenji, Shar-pei, Shepard mix, with maybe some Lab--which just adds up to CUTE! Now, that she has recovered, she likes to chew, and chew, and chew. She is a bit crazy at times, but extremely affectionate. She fits right in with our other rescued animals, an 1 year old Labradoodle, a cat, and a guinea pigs (although she still looks at the cat and the piggie as if they were chew toys).

In the first year we had Annie, she had to undergo four surgeries, and we found out she has flaked teeth. She has been our high-maintenance pound puppy. Her second year with us has included a new sister--Emma, the Labradoodle--and a new fence, since the two of them together became escape artists. She is most comfortable sleeping at the foot of the bed.
